Immediately, I stop my rough play and undo her cuffs to take my time making sweet love to her until she shatters once more. Her body goes limp. I’ve got a couple of hours to spare, so I take her heels off, lay down, and gather her in my arms.
It’s a while before she speaks. “I guess I overestimated my ability to keep up,” she says drowsily.
I smile. “You did fine.”
She shuffles so she’s propped on my chest, able to see my face. “I never imagined I’d be into that sort of thing.”
“Thatsort of thing?” My eyebrows shoot up.
Her cheeks are adorably pink. “Youknow. I think you have the power to make me like anything. As long as it’s with you.”
I glance at her. She’s staring at me with adoration, and I don’t mind. “I love you, Grace.” I’m getting comfortable saying the words out loud.
Her brilliant smile tells me she returns the sentiment.
Chapter 6
Grace
“Grace, take the damninternship.”
I roll my eyes at my sister’s bossy tone filtering through the phone’s speaker. “You know, Belle, I’m not twelve anymore. You can’t boss me around.”
“I’m not being bossy, I’m being encouraging.”
I smile. “I appreciate your effort.” We’ve been trying to nurture a closer relationship.
“Tell me, why are you so reluctant to take the opportunity? I thought you lived for all that artsy stuff.”
Pulling into Mel’s and Kevin’s driveway, I stay in the car for a moment. “I feel weird taking it. I only got the offer because I’m dating Rowan.”
I’ve been getting a lot of attention since the auction of my art project at that gallery—and since everyone found out I’m Rowan Lockwood’s girlfriend.
Even amid the stress of having his identity made public, he made good on his promise to help me out with my art career. Future art career, rather. I haven’t graduated yet. However, the person he reached out to called me with an offer of a summer internship at an important gallery after graduation. It would look great on my resume and potentially even give me a foot into a job at the same gallery.
“It’s all the way in New York,” I tell my sister.
