I open the door, and slide in, and Aiden stares at me, a smile forming across his lips. He continues to speek, but it’s not in English. Aiden gets off the chair quickly and walks over to me.
“Five, ten minutes max, please don’t leave,” he breathes out, and I give him a nod, letting him know I’m staying.
He moves back to the desk, continuing to talk while texting on his phone, and I look around this office. I stop by the bookcase and look at some of the pictures he has on there. I pick up the frame with the picture of us both in it and smile at how simple things were then.
“Saylor, Aiden asked for me to bring you some tea.” I turn to the man behind me, and look over at Aiden watching me. I never asked for tea, but I suppose I drank enough in front of him to know I wouldn’t say no to it.
“Thank you, could you put it on the desk, please,” I reply, putting the frame back and walking over to the desk. Aiden is still on his call. I want to say he's speaking Chinese, but I can't be sure about it.
Aiden brings my tea to the side he's sitting on, and quickly gets off his chair, then runs around the desk, grabs a chair, and places it next to his.
I turn around to look out the window, taken aback by the breathtaking view. The whole of London, and it looks beautiful. No wonder he never leaves the office, because with a view like this, I wouldn’t either. I need to find a yoga studio with a view, then my classes would be amazing.
“David, cancel my appointment until further notice.” I hear Aiden and turn to face him, as he looks through his phone, then a frown appears on his forehead.
“Already done.”
“Do you know why my mother is messaging me, and I quote, ‘Stop being an idiot.’” I let out a little laugh, and so does David.
“Your mum and Cathy were here, ran into your girlfriend, and well, let’s just say, something was said,” David tells him, and Aiden shakes his head, still looking at the phone.
“Do I want to know?” he asks, but looks over at me.
“It was nothing,” I say and hear David burst out laughing, then take a sip of my tea to hide my smile.
“Is it something she is going to mention to me again?” Aiden asks, turning his attention to the screen when a beep goes off, but he turns the screen off.
“Your mother told Saylor to leave, and your amazing girlfriends replied with, and I quote, ‘Aiden said if I come to his office, and suck on his dick under his desk, he would double my pay,’ and then to add to it, she said, ‘it’s so big, I might need some extra money.’” David and I both start laughing, and Aiden shakes his head, looking at me. “I will let you both talk.” David ends the call, and Aiden turns his seat to look at me, and I continue to drink my tea.
Chapter Seventeen
Aiden
I can’t believe she’s here. I tried everything to get Saylor to talk to me for even a minute, but nothing. I sent flowers every day, I asked Anika for help, but she wasn’t ready to talk. Then, to my surprise, my baby brother even travelled across the world to speak to Saylor.
I’m not complaining. I will cancel my whole week of work just to convince her I love her.
Saylor sits back down on the chair and crosses her leg. “Do you have any cake, by any chance?” she asks, looking around the room to see if I have a fridge in here.
Picking up the phone, I call David, telling him to send someone to get some cake. “Which kind of cake do you want?”
“Red velvet, or Victoria sponge, or lemon and poppy seed,” she replies, getting off the chair, and walking over to the window again.
“Did you get that?” I ask David.
“Yes, it will be there in a few. More tea with it, I guess?”
“I think so, and can I get a coffee too? How is the team doing?” I ask, smiling when I see Saylor trying to look through the glazed window.
“Their job. How about you worry less about them, and worry about winning Saylor back instead.” The line goes dead, then I put it down, not taking my eyes off Saylor.
“You sure do love your privacy.” She turns to face me, and for a moment, I just stare at her beauty. I’ve missed looking at her, I’ve missed touching her.
“Normally, it’s clear. I like my staff to see me working. But the last few weeks have been... I don’t really want to talk to anyone,” I tell her and press the button to unglaze the window.
“Oh shit, that’s amazing. You have too much to be spending on things like this.” She smiles and walks back over to me, and I glaze the windows back up. “I think we need to talk.”
She sits back down, crosses her legs, and looks between me and the view outside. Is this talk good, and she wants to get back with me? I sound like a bloody kid with all my second-guessing. I’m a grown man who has fallen in love with this sexy woman, and I will act like one for her to take me back.
