Every year when it's our birthday we always have to have a party together. Most annoying shit ever because I basically have to share everything on that day with him even though it's my day. I don't mean to sound conceited but it's annoying that twenty years of my life have been consumed with Alexander and not in a good way.
I will admit I have tried to kill him a couple of times and he has tried to kill me but somehow, he always knows when I am trying to kill him, and vice versa.
"Well, for this dinner please try not to argue so much with him. I just want a nice family dinner with all of us for once," my mother says looking at me and my dad.
My dad furrows his eyebrows, "Why are you looking at me?"
"Because you always argue with Alex and it's so fucking annoying," my mother rolls her eyes.
Alex is my mother's brother. He is the leader of the American Mafia but soon his daughter Ariel is marrying her fiancé which will make him the new leader. They met during this assassin academy they went to, and I guess he and her fell madly in love and all that bullshit. But whenever my uncle Alex is here, he and my father always argue nonstop.
"It's his fault that he is a dick to me for no reason."
"Just play nice," my mother says with begging eyes that my father can never resist and then she looks at me. "Both of you."
My dad smirks at me and I just smile at him.
We both know that won’t happen.
I drink the rest of my coffee and put the cup in the sink. "Whatever."
Three
"I'm here!" I hear a familiar voice from down the hall before the door of my room opens revealing Jane. I smile as she wraps her arms around me. My eyes close automatically from the amazing scent of her hair. One thing I love about Jane is how much she takes care of her hair. She kind of has to take care of her hair because of the texture and curls. "Happy birthday!" she says once she’s released me from the hug.
"Thanks," I chuckle. "Where are your mom and dad?"
"Downstairs with your parents," Jane states.
"Is everyone else here yet?" I ask.
Today is the dinner with the family and also my birthday. It hasn't been that interesting. All that happened was breakfast with my mom, dad, and brother. Luckily, I didn't have to go to training because if I did then I would have to deal with Alexander and his brooding self.
My mom and dad gave me some gifts this morning. They said they have more for me later, but I told them they didn't have to get me anything.
My mom gave me her vintage red dress from when she was my age. It was a summer dress, and it is stunning. I was thinking about wearing it tonight, but I don't want to get it dirty. I also don't think it's a club dress so if I do wear it, it will be at a family party, not a club party.
My dad gave me a freaking gun. It has my name on it. I don't know why he gave me a gun because I already have so many. I keep a stash of weapons in my closet.
"No, they are on their way. My mom, dad, and I came a little earlier than the others, so I think that your uncle's plane is landing soon. He came with your grandma," Jane states. I nod my head, making her know that I understand what she is saying. "Are you ready for tonight? What are you wearing?"
"A white corset top and a black mini skirt that I have. How is school going?"
"Decent," Jane shrugs her shoulders. "It's normal for a regular person, I guess. How is being a soon-to-be mafia boss?" Jane chuckles.
"Ehh, nothing that interesting," I shrug with a little smirk on my face.
"I haven't seen you forever and you say that nothing interesting happened while I was away?" Jane asks and raises an eyebrow at me.
I shake my head from side to side. "Nope. Just the regular mission crap and Killian being a constant dick."
"Where is your brother anyway? I didn't see him downstairs."
I roll my eyes.
Killian is out with his friends. He snuck out to go and hang out with them instead of staying for dinner. I am not going to tell mom or dad though because when they figure it out they will deal with him.
"He is out with his friends. He decided to ditch."
