My omega instincts flare, urging me to take care of my mates.

Grabbing some clothes from a nearby wardrobe, I head to the bathroom downstairs.

Shedding my clothes, I walk inside the glass-walled shower stall and switch on the water.

A moan escapes me as hot, steamy water soaks into my skin, relaxing me instantly. Using a copious amount of soap and shampoo, I cleanse every inch of my body.

I feel satisfied only when the artificial fragrance of the soap overpowers my natural perfume. Feeling thoroughly clean, I step out of the shower and dry myself.

Tendrils of wet hair hang past my shoulders. Without bothering to blow dry them, I dress quickly and hurry downstairs.

The hallways are still and quiet. I don’t come across Caleb, Damon, or Raiden. It’s usual for them to leave early but I’d hoped they’d stay back today.

Heading inside the kitchen, I find three bowls of uneaten cereal on the dining table along with three cups of half-finished coffee standing beside them.

A frown twists my lips.

They must’ve left in a hurry to abandon their breakfasts this way.

I let out a heavy exhale, realizing the severity of the situation my mates are facing at the moment. Caleb, Damon, and Raiden must be scrambling to bring order to their base after the chaos Callahan unleashed on them.

They need me, the thought crosses my mind once again.

My body vibrates with urgency. I’ve got to do whatever I can to help everyone out.

So, I start off with the most important task.

Moving across the kitchen, I open the fridge.

My hands automatically reach for the eggs and milk. I’m secretly glad Julian enjoys a sweet breakfast as much as me. Grabbing a carton of blueberries, I start prepping for pancakes.

The kitchen soon comes alive with the smell of cooking pancakes. Feeling ravenous, I take another pan to cook some bacon and scrambled eggs.

When everything is ready, I plate up our breakfast and head back upstairs.

“I was about to go looking for you,” Julian’s voice, thick with anxiety, reaches me as I’m about to step through the threshold. “Where have you been?”

His grim expression clears the moment he notices the massive tray in my hands. “That smells so good,” he croons, eyeing the plates of pancakes.

Moving closer, I place the tray on the bed. “I was getting breakfast ready,” I say, handing him a glass of orange juice.

“Thanks,” he says, taking an eager sip. “Why do you look so worried though?”

“The others didn’t get to have a proper meal before leaving,” I say, thinking about the bowls of uneaten cereal. “They’ll fall sick if they skip meals constantly.”

A grim look comes over Julian. “They’ve barely slept over the last couple of days,” he says. His gaze meets mine. “I’m so glad you’re home now. You can help me take care of them.”

I nod, feeling an odd sense of comfort wash over me. Julian feels as worried about them as me. It’s amazing to have someone who understands my deepest emotions without needing me to voice them.

Julian starts cutting up his pancakes. Even though he utters no sound, I notice him wincing as he tries to use his fork and knife.

“Does it hurt to move your hand?” I ask in a gentle voice.

“Yeah, but I’m getting used to it.”

“Let me do it for you,” I say, taking his plate away.

“You don’t have to do that,” he says, trying to snatch the plate back. “I can do it on my own.”
