“Yeah?”
“Yes, and it’ll always be you.”
“I can get behind that.” Grinning, I lift her hand to mine and press a kiss against her knuckles. “Set a date, Angel. Whenever you want, wherever you want, I’ll be waiting for you at the end of the aisle.”
“Whenever I want?”
“Yes, whenever.”
“What if it’s the day of the Super Bowl?”
My mouth falls open. “You wouldn’t…”
Callie bursts into laughter. “I’m not that evil. May 27th.”
I pull back, brows raised. “That was fast.”
“Already having cold feet, Hades?”
Cold feet? Not a freaking chance.
“As if,” I huff. “If my girl wants May 27th, she’ll get May 27th, although…” My eyes narrow as I try to go over the calendar in my head. I can’t be sure, not without checking, but… “Isn’t that around graduation?”
Her eyes twinkle in amusement. “The day after graduation.”
“A little over five months.”
“Five months,” she agrees, taking a step back, that smile still on her face.
Just five more months, and she’s mine.
Forever.
Forever filled with laughter and love with this woman that owns half of my heart. Forever of having her in my bed. Forever of her grumbling when I wake her up way too early in the morning. Forever of kissing her. Forever of walking with her hand in mine. Forever of blond, blue-eyed babies.
Our forever.
“Hayden?”
“Hmm…” I ask, my mind still overwhelmed with the image of what our life will be like.
“I win.”
I blink, trying to decipher what she’s saying. She takes a few more steps back, that smile on her face growing bigger by the moment.
“I win. I asked you first.”
Our conversation goes through my head as she creates more distance between us.
“You little…” I run after her. Callie shrieks and tries to run away, but I’m faster, my hands wrapping around her middle andpulling her to me as I lean down and press my mouth against the side of her neck. “I’ll make you pay for this, and now that you agreed, I’ll have our whole life to do it too.”
“Well, technically, you agreed, but sure we can go with that.”
I nip her playfully, which only makes her laugh harder. I turn her in my arms, my hand slipping inside my pocket. “I guess I should put this on my finger, although I’m not sure it’ll fit, even on my pinky.”
Her eyes grow bigger as I pull out the little velvet box. “You didn’t think I’d come only with pretty words, did you?” I twist the box between my fingers, letting the weight settle on my palm. “I’ve come prepared to do this right, Callie. I’ll always try my best to do right by you.”
With her hand in mine, I get down to one knee.
