“Hey,” I say.
“Hey, now what?”
“What are you doing?” I tilt my head to look at the footage. It just shows an empty hallway. “Something important?”
“If combing over all of our security tapes for any tampering is important to you, then yes.” He tears his eyes away to glare at me.
“I guess it's pretty important.”
“I had to fire a guard. He wasn’t doing his job.” He’s clearly agitated.
“Alright,” I say as I take a sip of my drink.
“That’s it?” he frowns.
“Do you want me to argue with you?”
“No, but you don’t want to ask any questions about it?”
“Should I? Did you do it for the right reasons?”
“Yeah.”
“Then no, I don't need to ask questions. I trust you.” I smile at him, swirling my cup.
“They were good reasons,” he pushes.
“Alright.”
“I’m getting a new security program too. This one is shit.”
“Sounds good.” I let my eyes travel around the room.
“That’s it?”
“Are you in charge of security?” I face him.
“Yes.” He narrows his eyes.
“Then yes, that’s it,” I reply.
“You don’t want to know why it needs to change?”
“No. Do you honestly think we need these changes?”
He stares at me for a moment, really thinking about it. “Yes,” he decides.
“So, do what you have to do. You don’t need my approval to change things in your department. I appreciate being kept in the loop, but you don’t need me to sign off on it. I trust you,” I repeat.
“Why?” he asks.
“Why what?” I sigh.
“Why do you trust me?” he asks, clearly confused.
“You are my brother. You are loyal and a good person. You want what is best for the club and us.” I lean forward and fold my arms across the desk, watching him.
“I let this place fall apart. I didn’t train the guys as I should. The cameras are outdated. I let Penny get taken.” He lowers his eyes, not able to look at his Alpha.
