“Are you awake yet?” he whispers, dipping his head to kiss the crook of my neck.

“No,” I whisper back, making him laugh.

I crack my eyes open and he moves his mouth up to the shell of my ear, lightly dragging it out with his teeth. I moan happily and he moves his hand down to my inner thigh, slowly lifting it up over his lap. Just when I think he’s about to get me off with his fingers, the dog barks from somewhere and Xan groans in my ear, reluctantly sliding out of bed to open the pool house door for him.

“Go on, you little cockblock.”

Bear drags his feet while he goes outside and I chuckle, stretching my arms up over my head to fold them behind the pillow. Xan leaves him to it and walks over to me, sleepily running a hand through his purple hair in a way that makes him look messy and bad and so fucking hot it hurts to look at him. He raises a cocky ass brow and I tense, inwardly preparing myself for him to ask me to leave, but he doesn’t do that.

“Can I take you to breakfast after I walk Bear?” he asks, leaning over me to lie down between my legs.

“I..” I frown, quickly shaking my head to clear it. “I promised Kian I’d go out with him this morning considering I ditched him last night, remember?”

He pouts and kisses my lips, sliding off of me to walk over to the kitchen. “Coffee, then?”

I hesitate but nod, shamelessly watching his body while he grabs a couple mugs from the cupboard overhead. He leaves the coffee maker to do its thing and then heads to the bathroom, smirking to himself when he catches my eyes following his every move.

“You’re hot, too, princess.”

Goddamnit.

I bite my lip and sit up on his bed, sucking in a breath when Bear jumps up to sit next to me. He rests his chin on my lap the same way he did with Xan last night and I freeze, unsure what to do with my hands. I’m still terrified of him, but I don’t miss the way he’s barely moved in the twelve hours I’ve known him.

“You really are a lazy little shit, huh?” I mutter, slowly moving my hand up to touch his head with one finger.

He closes his eyes and I get a little braver, gently scratching the spot behind his ear. He falls asleep on me and I grin, leaning back against the headboard to take a look around. Xan keeps this place clean but a little messy, a few bits of clothing thrown here and there and his school books hanging around all over the place. I spot the picture on his nightstand and lean over to get a closer look, pulling my brows in when I realize he’s got his arm wrapped around Niko Reid’s neck. At first I think it’s a little weird that he keeps a framed picture of him and a famous musician on his nightstand right next to his bed, but then I catch the resemblance between the two and my jaw hits the floor.

Is that his brother?

Alec Reid and Isla Montgomery’s son?

That’s.. not possible, surely, but Xan’s last name is..

Just then, the bathroom door opens and he walks out, grinning like a kid in a candy shop when he finds me and his dog cuddled up in bed together. He goes back to the kitchen to finish the coffee and I stare at the side of his face, gently climbing out from beneath Bear to ensure I don’t wake him.

“Hey, Xan?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“Did you ever watch that nineties movie with the priest and the call gir–”

He drops his spoon down on the island and I slap my hands over my mouth, desperately trying not to laugh when I catch the look on his face. He looks surprised and annoyed and amused all at once, his head cocked to the left while he leans back against the kitchen side.

“You think you’re funny?”

“No,” I lie, the words muffled by my hands.

He shakes his head at me and slides me my coffee, eyeing me from beneath his lashes while he grabs his spoon to stir his own. “How did you find out?”

“Your brother was Niko freaking Reid,” I inform him, pointing to the picture on his nightstand with a low key fangirl groan. “I love him so much, Xan.”

“Awesome,” he mutters, leaning his elbows on the island to level with me. “I’m the good looking brother, you know? He was the ugly one with all the talent.”

“Of course he was, sweetie,” I feign agreement, dropping down on the bar stool opposite him to sip my coffee. “Your parents are hot.”

“Jordyn.”

“Did you know there were rumours going around back then that their sex scenes were real? That he actually put it in her right there on se–”
