“Imma go get my little brothers and go find these motherfuckers.” He growls, standing with my legs wrapped around his waist. “You’re staying with security until we’ve dealt with him.”

“What?” I pull my head back, disgusted. “I don’t fucking think so.”

“I’m not asking.”

“Damon-”

“I said I’m not asking.” He repeats, speaking through his teeth. “Fight me on this and I swear to god I’ll tie your ass to a chair and leave you in it.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Fuckin’ try me.”

I glare, crossing my arms in defiance when he drops me down and takes his phone out to call someone. He turns his back on me to pace so I snatch my phone and take off running, heading straight down to the elevator before he even realizes I’m gone. Shouts fills my ears just as soon as the doors close and I grin, shaking my head at him.

Stay with security, he says.

Fucking please.

I get down to the lobby and rush out through the revolving doors, only answering the phone blowing up in my pocket once I’m about a mile down the street. “Yes, Damon?”

“What the fuck, Callie?!”

“Let’s not be dramatic.” I tease, smirking when I hear him smacking something. “Come pick me up if you really want, but I’m not about to go back up there and sit with security like some kinda pussy. Either you let me come with you or I’ll find them on my own. Your choice.”

He hesitates for a long minute, growling. “Fine.”

I grin, looking over my shoulder to eye the sign on the restaurant next to me. “I’m outside The Grove.”

“Stay the fuck there.” He bites out, hanging up on me.

I laugh and face forward again, slamming into a hard chest as I do. I squeal and bounce back into someone else, feeling my hackles raise when I connect eyes with the guy I elbowed in the face the night Damon picked me up off the street and took me home.

Home.

I open my mouth but no sound comes out, and it’s only now I feel the sharp pinch of pain in my neck.

A needle..

My vision blurs a little and I sway in someone’s arms, frowning when the guy in front of me smirks like he’s won the lottery. “Nighty night, new girl.”

* * *

Motherfuckers.

I slowly blink my eyes open and squint at the sun, attempting to lift my hand to block it.

It doesn’t move.

Nothing moves.

You stupid, stupid girl.

Why didn’t you listen to him?

“You said they’d have given up by now.” Someone hisses, but I don’t know who it is or where they are. “They’ve got a whole fuckin’ search party out there, Derek. You’re fucked, man. We’re all fucked.”

“Will you relax?” Someone else says. “You’re freakin’ me out.”
