He didn’t let her go.

Why?

“Amelia, you cannot handle yourself.”

“You have no idea what I can do, but seeing as you’re here, I don’t have to be. Let mego. Your guy ran toward the lake. I don’t think he’s human. He moved way too fast and he seemed to be able to dodge all the trees while running fast. Let me go.”

He let her go, and she took several steps away from him.

“We still need to talk,” he said.

This made her stop and look toward him. “What?”

“About last night, we still need to talk.”

“No, we don’t.” She went to leave again and much to her surprise, Wolfe was right in front of her, stopping her. “Damn it, Wolfe!” She growled at him, wanting him to leave her alone.

This was so annoying. When she didn’t want him to leave her alone or storm out of her apartment, he did exactly that. Now, when she wanted him to leave her alone, he was insistent on having a conversation.

What was with men?

She didn’tunderstand them. All they did was confuse her, and that shit wasn’t fair.

She was getting annoyedas she stared at Wolfe. “What do you want? What could you possibly want to talk about?” She put her hands on her hips and glared at him. “Was it about last night? The fact you ran away because you found out I was a virgin?”

“I didn’t run away.”

“You leftmy apartment pretty damn fast. Don’t worry about it, Wolfe. No harm done. I’m not a virgin anymore, and you kept to the wholehumantradition of making my first time a nightmare. Thanks for that. Now, can I move on, or do you want to berate me some more for being …kind?”

He took a step to the side, and Amelia was a little … disappointed.

Wolfe was going to let her go,just like that.

Fine. She didn’t want him anyway.

She took three steps, and then Wolfe grabbed her arm and pressed her up against the nearest tree. He captured her chin, tilting her head back so she had no choice but to look at him.

“I had no problemwith you being a virgin. Surprised. Virgins are rare around here because we like to fuck, Amelia. We’re driven by our needs, but I don’t have a problem with it. I wasn’t prepared for it, but don’t worry, next time, when I fuck you, you’re not even going to remember your name.”

Amelia gasped, and then he surprised her again by slamming his lips down on hers and kissing her. It was hard, rough, and the sensations coursed through her body, filling her with excitement.

This was what she wanted. For Wolfe not to hold back, but to take what he wanted.

Chapter Seven

Wolfe checked the entire area near the lake. He had no choice but to call it in to Alpha, who was pissed off that Amelia would chase anyone into the forest. The Poison Wolves MC joined him in the forest, all of them looking pissed off as they all had to access their scents to be able to locate whoever it was that was stalking Amelia, or just on the outskirts of town.

He didn’t want to draw attention to her, but with their five-hour search rendering nothing but a bunch of mixed scents, he, Alpha, Draco, and Gunnar headed into the Poison Bar.

It was after nine, and already there was ahum of activity. Men and women dancing. The energy and heat already building. A full moon wasn’t too far away, but if they didn’t think it was safe, none of them were going to get the chance to hunt, to bask in the moon.

There were only a few rare circumstances that they locked the town down. This was one of those times.

Gripping the back of his neck, he looked around the bar, trying to detect anyone who might look a little suspicious. Val always risked having different kinds of shifters within the bar. This was Poison Wolves territory, but there was a small border, the tiniest amount.

Alpha had wanted Val to knock the place down and rebuild closer to the main town, but the stubborn bastard had refused. He’d told Alpha that if his bar was closer to town, there would be a shit ton of complaints because of the noise.

The bar stayed where it was, especially when most of the town folk had agreed they didn’t want it too close to home. The pack was spoiled. There was no other word for it.
