The girl huffed.

Maybe Charlotte wasn’t the only one jealous.

“And when they’re finished, you’ll mop the kitchen and out front. Don’t miss under the game tables. Make sure to get the stages twice, maybe three times. Mops in the closet on the right. I’m sure you’ll see it. After that, you can give me a call. You’ll gather up all the towels and linens and do the laundry. I’ll tell you where to look. Simple shit, really,” Cece went on, a scowl on her face.

“You’re not staying to make sure I do a good job.”

“Now, how would I make sure you did a good job? I’m just that poor blind girl.”

Bollocks. Cece heard Charlotte through the phone. She bounded out through the back door.

Straight away, I followed her. “Now, where are ya going?”

“I’m going home.”

“How do you get home?”

“I walk.” With her cane folded up in her hand, Cece walked straight ahead, somehow not tripping and breaking her neck.

“I’ll see you home.”

“Just leave me alone.”

“I’m seeing you home, I am.”

Chapter 7

Following Cece past the arena, I could tell she took a well-worn path that winded behind the Big House, Kingpin’s place. She lived in the ranch style home closest to it. Close on her heels the whole time, I imagined getting to her place and ravishing her again. Foolish thought, I knew. Her nurse would be there, and clearly Cece was upset with me about the jokes with my brothers and about what Charlotte said.

When we reached her front door, I noticed it wasn’t locked. Cece zipped straight through to the couch. At her feet set a large tan poodle wearing a harness with a handle.

Leaning on the frame, I asked her, “Can I come in?”

“Sure,” she gave in, petting the head of the dog.

I joined her on the couch the same color as the dog. “I take it this is Waldo?”

“Yeah, but don’t talk to him. He’s easily distracted. If you get his attention, he forgets about his job.”

“Doesn’t sound like a very good guide dog.”

“It’s okay. Waldo’s still learning,” she said in a tiny voice, more to the dog than me. “It doesn’t matter. I don’t dare leave Royal Road, so I don’t really need him.”

Glancing around the house, I wanted to get a glimpse into her life, but the place was a mess. I wondered if she even knew the dishes were piled up in the sink. I could smell them, and Waldo’s shit over on a puppy pee pad visible in the hallway.

“Um. Where’s your nurse?”

“Jassica? She’s crashed over at my brother’s house, as usual, so she couldn’t take Waldo out while I was gone. I’ll get rid of it.” Cece started to rise, but I clutched her shoulder stopping her.

Just touching her again sent a chill through me. We were all alone. Though her brother lived just across the street. At nine a.m. the man would be sound asleep. My dick stirred in my denim. Screw Charlotte coming over.

“No, no. I’ve got it.” I got up to remove the offending odor.

“There are bags hanging by the door with the keys. If you wrap it up, there’s a can out the back door. You know they’re fucking, my brother and Jassica?”

“Boys a dear.”

“My brother’s no dear.”
