I freeze in my seat as I take in his words.
“Where is she?” I ask.
“She seems to be staying with a Logan Walters. There is an elderly man by the name of Leo Richardson and three children that live in the home. She rarely leaves the house, but today she seemed to go out and get some groceries and had used her card, which was how I was able to trace her,” he says.
“Send me all the details,” I say and, at his agreement, I hang up and find my men.
I’m at Levi’s door seconds later. “Carlton found her.”
Levi jumps up from his chair. “What?” he says looking shocked.
I give him all the other details as Grayson and Ethan come running into the room.
“We need a plan. We have to get her back,” Ethan says with a finality in his tone.
I nod my head in agreement.
We book a suite at a nearby hotel to them, and get everything else set up before we are on the plane to see our woman.
I have never been more nervous in my life.
What are we going to do if she wants nothing to do with us anymore?
Ethan
I drum my fingers on my thigh as we head from the airport to the house where Kyla has been staying.
We couldn’t find her because she didn’t rent, buy, or get a hotel room.
The house we pull up to has a lot of yard around it. Kids are playing in the street with a basketball hoop on the other side. Three kids run screaming excitedly, and it looks like they are chasing someone.
There are two people on the porch.
When I zero in on the person being chased, I notice that it’s Kyla. She’s laughing as the kids hit her with water guns. They seem to have ganged up on her.
They only seem to stop when they run out of water and, by that time, all four of us are standing outside of the SUV we rented. Kyla stills when she sees us.
“Ky?” the younger man asks. He looks at us with a glare. I’m sure if it wasn’t for the cast on his leg and arm, he would be in our faces right now protecting his friend.
“It’s okay, Logan. I can handle this,” she says lowly to him.
The older man beside him pulls a shotgun from somewhere and makes a show of inspecting it.
I swallow hard as he levels each of us with a stare.
“Holler if they give you any trouble, ya here?” he grumbles to Kyla.
She stops in front of us and crosses her arms over her chest.
She’s so fucking beautiful it hurts.
“What do you want?” she says in a harsh tone. I can’t help but flinch.
“Look, we fucked up. I fucked up. We should have given you a chance to talk, explain, but I’m a thick-headed asshole, and I let words I didn’t even mean come out,” Levi pleads.
“And that’s supposed to make it better? Ya’ll come crawling over here, and I’m just supposed to forgive you?” she says angrily with her voice growing louder.
“No, that doesn’t make it okay. We want to fix this. We need you,” Asher says trying to reason with her.
