Grayson nods his head. He and Levi take a seat on the bed, and Ethan and I sit against the wall beside the bed looking up at them.
“I was wrong on so many fucking levels,” Levi starts.
“You have to know that Kyla would never do something like that,” Grayson says with determination.
Levi catches his eye and nods. “I know.”
“Then why would you chase her away?” Grayson asks.
Levi rubs a hand over his face. “It’s not that I had even thought she did. I just reacted. Immediately after saying those words, I regretted them; but I couldn’t take them back. Instead, I just made everything worse. I didn’t know how to let Bethany go, and this felt like I lost her all over again,” Levi says.
Tears well in my eyes.
“What happened to Bethany was tragic, but you have to know that she wouldn’t want you living this way. All she ever did want was for us to be happy, and I know for a fact that she would have loved Kyla for us,” I tell them.
“Tell us honestly, Levi. How does Kyla make you feel?” Grayson asks.
“I love her. She makes me feel more than I could have ever expected. I can’t imagine letting her go and never seeing her again,” he says looking at us directly so they we can see how serious he is.
“I love her too. We have to do everything we can to get her back,” Ethan says with a nod of his head.
Grayson nods his head and then looks at me. “Yeah, I can’t help but love her too. What’s not to love? Every single one of us screwed up. I didn’t stand up and say that I thought what you guys were saying was wrong. I made her feel like the outsider of our relationship and that is not something I will ever do again. She’s in this equally; not four against one.”
Tears well in my eyes when I realise that we all feel the same way about this woman who stole our hearts without even knowing it. I won’t give her up for anything. I will try my hardest to make her see that.
When they all look at me expectantly, it finally occurs to me that they are waiting for me to confirm my feelings. “Of course, I love her. I’ve been in love with her for a long time; I have just been waiting for you guys to catch up,” I say with a wink which brings them all to chuckle.
“How are we going to get her back?” I ask.
“We need to lay our hearts on the line. Grayson is right, we made her feel like she wasn’t an equal partner in this relationship. We have to prove to her that she is one of us and not just a side piece,” Ethan says with a serious look on his face.
“I think we are going to have to prove it to more than just her, but to her family and Holly as well. They are very protective of her, and I won’t want to live the rest of my life being hated by them. I also wouldn’t want to put any strain on her relationship with any of them,” Levi says thoughtfully.
“For Kyla, I would do anything,” I say in a firm voice.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Asher
Three weeks later…
No matter what I do, I cannot find Kyla. I have looked everywhere. She hasn’t used her bank cards at all. It’s like she completely fell off the grid.
We asked Holly and her parents where she is, and her parents slammed the door in our face. What they did was actually kind compared to how Holly responded to us.
I don’t think I have ever been so scared in my life than when that woman was threatening us.
It took us a couple days for us to get Grayson to come home so that we could work this out. He was pissed at us for a long time but, when he saw how sorry we really where, he forgave us.
Grayson was right; we didn’t bother to give Kyla a chance to talk. I hope to make it up to her, but there is a huge chance that she won’t want anything to do with us.
We hired a private investigator to find her, and I hope something comes from it.
My phone goes off as soon as I sit down in my office.
“Hello, this is Asher.”
“Carlton. I found your woman,” the PI says.
