“I kind of like that plan.”
Tai bumped his groin into Seth’s, rubbing their hard-ons together. “It’s growing on me, too.”
“I would say so.” Seth’s hands went for Tai’s waistband, hastily unfastening the button. His fingers slipped inside to stroke over Tai’s throbbing length. Tai sucked in a shuddering breath. It had been so long. They’d made love with River, but they hadn’t been together since before her news, earlier this week. Had that only been so few days ago?
“That feels so good. Yes…” he groaned as Seth’s fingers circled him and jacked upward. Pushing him over onto his back, Seth straddled him then moved down his body, until his mouth hovered above Tai’s cock. Tai cried out when hot lips sucked him inside. Seth slowly took him to his throat then pulled back up, licking and sucking before swallowing him down again. Tai buried his fingers in his lover’s hair, holding there and needing to touch him.
Seth cupped Tai’s balls, and Tai’s heels dug into the step, his hips shooting up. Seth shoved him back down with his free hand. “Mine,” he growled. “Stay there.”
“Fuck, Seth, oh fuck.”
“Soon. I promise.”
Tai dropped his head back with a groan, surrendering himself to Seth’s blowjob. No one had lips like Seth’s, and no one played him so well, not even River, though he’d never tell her. She had her own perfect charms he’d never want to trade. Together, his lovers were the ideal combination for bliss. When Seth’s saliva-slicked finger slipped back to play with Tai’s hole, Tai let out a sound close to a whimper, not that he’d admit it.
“Oh yeah, baby, yeah…”
Seth chuckled at Tai’s response and pushed against Tai’s resistance.
A scream, faint but long and sustained, wrenched them from their play. Tai pushed up on his elbows, eyes wide while Seth looked over his shoulder. They both knew they wouldn’t see anything as they stared toward the north. In a flash, they were both on their feet, Tai fastening his pants as they raced down the drive to Seth’s truck.
More screams followed, only short breaks in between, the pain in them evident. Still, they didn’t sound like the shrieks of someone in danger. It didn’t matter. They had to get to River. She apparently didn’t realize how sound traveled in the country, and whether she admitted it or not, she needed them.
Neither of them had fully shut their doors before Seth had the car in gear. He raced down the road River had taken.
As promised, she hadn’t veered, and it didn’t take them long to find her. Tai’s heart broke as he spied River on her knees, her hands clawed into the dirt, her shoulders—no, her whole body—shaking with her emotions.
He jumped from the truck, sensing more than seeing Seth on his heels. He sank down beside River and embraced her.
“I told you not to follow me,” she sobbed.
“I told you I wouldn’t let you go through this, not a bit of it, alone.”
“I can’t… I just can’t…” she cried, bending forward again. He and Seth continued holding her, moving along with her and blanketing her in their care. Tai petted her hair, murmuring to her while she wept until she was spent, limp in their arms. Across from him, Seth did the same. They were truly a team in this. And God, he couldn’t help but hope Seth was right—that everything would be okay.
“Damn it,” River finally whispered. “I’m so fucking pathetic.”
That was the River he’d known for the past four years, the River who hid herself so well. No more hiding. “No, you’re not pathetic at all. You’re human. And having feelings and being upset is allowed.”
Seth eyed him, and Tai could almost read his thoughts: Hello, pot? This is kettle…
Tai glared at him, and Seth smirked. Tai kissed River’s temple. “Can we take you home? Or…do you need to stay here a little longer.”
She huffed out a sigh. “I need a shower.” She weakly lifted a hand. “I think I was rolling in dirt while I lost my mind.”
“I beat up the punching bag in the basement.” He showed her his scabbed knuckles. Her eyebrows lifted in surprise.
She took his hand and brought it to her lips, kissing each mark. “I’m sorry.”
His eyes closed. “Don’t be.”
River rolled to her back, resting Tai’s hand on her belly. Her gaze drifted to Seth. “What about you? What do you do when the stress is too much?”
He shrugged.
“He bakes,” Tai answered.
“Bakes?”
