“You are my problem, Lucas! I hate you! I hate you for doing this to me! You made me hope! You made me bite your bait! And then what, huh?! You won’t even talk to me anymore! When I tried to reach out and communicate, you shunned me. You break my heart, Lucas! I was here because I wanted to run away from all the pain you caused me. So, if there’s someone to blame for what happened earlier, then blame yourself!” I bellowed.
My tears wouldn’t stop from falling while uttering those words. He wasn’t able to say anything. He was too stunned that he merely stared at me with widened eyes. I frantically wiped my tears with my arm before running away from him.
I couldn’t bear to stand next to him anymore. Hell, I don’t even want to see his face anymore. Every time I look at him, all I can ever feel is pain. Maybe, it’ll be better if I just run away.
Perhaps, staying away from him for good is better than repeatedly hurting me before his presence every single day.
I don’t know if he was following me, and I didn’t care. In fact, I wish he didn’t. All I know is that I kept on running as new tears fell from my eyes. My eyes got so blurry with tears that I suddenly tripped on a rock, making me fall to the ground. I cried even more. Damn it. I didn’t even know if I was crying because of the pain in my heart or because of the pain in my damn leg.
“Damn it, Celine!” the angry voice of Lucas echoes in the whole forest.
Chapter Fifty-Five
I heard multiple curses from Lucas. I still couldn’t stop myself from crying. I sobbed while he helped me to stand up. I didn’t speak and just continued crying. My hands were still on my face.
I heard him let out a sigh.
“Damn it, why are you so stubborn, huh? And you’re not even that careful,” he whispered coldly as he held me on my shoulders. A few minutes later, we were already walking. He was just holding me as we walked.
No one was talking when they were on our way back to the pack, although I could hear him cursing from time to time. I was no longer sobbing, but my face was still wet from tears, and my eyes were probably bloodshot from crying heavily earlier.
“Alpha,” I heard someone say.
That made me remove my hands. Oh, I didn’t notice we were in the pack already.
Lucas sighed... “Get more warriors and tell them to scan the vicinity. We just had an encounter with Michael,” he commanded.
“Yes, Alpha!” the warrior said and immediately ran to the field. We were left there at the entrance of the pack.
We still didn’t talk. I almost flinched when he slightly leaned his face to me to inspect my left ear.
“Let’s get you treated,” he whispered huskily, which sent shivers to my spine. I almost held my breath when he slowly aided me to the mansion.
We walked by the field, so I was sure the warriors there saw us. I also felt them staring at us, too, but I was already so exhausted from crying that I didn’t even mind them until we reached the mansion.
“Alpha!” it was Leila who greeted us. Her eyes widened when she saw me. “What happened?!” She immediately rushed to me before glancing at Lucas confusingly. I remained quiet, though. My whole body was devoid of energy at this point.
Lucas massaged his temples. “We had an encounter with Michael earlier.”
“What?!” Leila looked incredibly shocked.
“Leila, I will just take her upstairs, okay? Please get me a first aid kit,” Lucas ordered while tightening his grasp on my hand.
“O-Okay!”
Leila hurriedly ran to the medicine cabinet beside the comfort room. Lucas, on the other hand, slowly dragged me upstairs. I thought he would be walking me to my room, but instead, he walked me to his room. My mouth parted a bit as I looked at him surprisingly. He quietly closed the door and then urged me to sit on his bed, making me swallow hard.
My eyes just followed him as he walked back and forth like he didn’t know what to do. He just stopped when we heard a knock.
“Alpha,” Leila said.
“Yes,” Lucas immediately opened the door.
“Here, Alpha,” Leila handed the first aid kit.
“Thanks, Leila.”
“Do you need help, Alpha?” Leila asked, but Lucas immediately shook his head.
