“Come on, you two should really talk,” Darius said again.

My eyes aggressively darted at him, finally getting fed up. I was about to utter something offensive when the training room door fluttered open.

“Darius,” a cold baritone voice said.

My heart skipped a beat. I already knew who it was, just the sound of his voice. I kept my head down.

“Lucas.” I could hear the amusement in Darius’ voice.

“Let’s go. We have a lot of things to do,” I heard him say.

I still didn’t move.

“Alright.”

I heard footsteps walking away from me. When I felt like they were far already, I turned my head in their direction only to meet Lucas’ gaze as if he’s been waiting for me to look in his direction. I felt like his stares scorched me. I immediately averted my eyes away from him.

This is freaking frustrating.

Chapter Fifty-Three

“Celine, where are you going?” Leila greeted me the moment I walked out of the mansion’s door.

I immediately rolled my eyes at her. “Are you my mother?” I shot back.

Her mouth parted a bit, and she looked at me in disbelief. “Seriously? You do know that you are being a bitch right now, right?” she asked with her arms crossed against her chest already.

I looked away and didn’t answer her. Then I heard her sigh.

“Fine, do what you want. Just be careful. By the way, the situations outside borders are more chaotic than we expected,” she said before walking past me.

I pressed my lips together and watched her go back to the mansion. I just shrugged and still decided to go outside the pack. I just nodded to the guards before walking towards the forest.

My right hand tightly clenched my bow as I walked in the middle of the forest. To be honest, I don’t know what to do here. I mean. I just thought I’d been too drained with my everyday routine, so I needed a break. Perhaps, this forest can provide a nice environment for that.

I surveyed the trees and the plants around me, realizing that I was probably far away from the pack’s border. It’s not that it matters to me, anyway. This place was so peaceful, and the soft wishing sound of the wind combined with the insects’ sounds created the perfect symphony of nature. Slowly, I closed my eyes and sat on the ground in an Indian position, trying to relax and meditate… feeling as the cold breeze brushed my body.

I wanted to clear my mind from everything. I heaved a sigh and stayed in that position for a while when suddenly, I heard some rustling from behind. My eyes fluttered open, and I immediately checked my surroundings. But I didn’t see anyone.

But oddly, I felt like a certain force was pulling me to go in that direction. My heart started to beat faster than it normally should.

I quickly stood up and alerted my senses. I creased my forehead as I looked around the place. The strong wind blew again, but this time it was different. It felt ominous and scary. I tightened my grip on my bow and arrow as I continued to survey the surroundings. My breathing went heavy already when I felt another presence nearby.

I muttered a curse in my head as I gritted my teeth and clenched my hands.

“Well, well, if it’s not my rejected mate.”

I felt like my whole body just froze when I heard that voice. My chest tightened as it moved up and down. I quickly turned in his direction. A few meters away from me was my former mate and the Alpha of the Crest Moon pack, Michael.

His hair has grown long already. He had also grown a beard that almost covered his face. He looked like a person in exile.

I clenched my hands tighter when I watched the side of his lips rise into a smirk. I didn’t back down and kept my eyes on him.

“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked coldly, but he just smirked at me and placed both of his hands on his pants’ side pockets.

“So cold, Celine, aren’t you happy to see me?” he taunted.

Strangely, I suddenly felt like something was pulling me to him again.
