“Let’s go?” she asked with a smirk on her lips.
I shrugged and got ready. We started our combat routine. I was able to dodge every punch and kick that she threw.
“Fuck!” I heard her cursing when I was able to corner her. I smirked at her before eventually letting her go.
She gave me a sigh and shook her head. I grinned even more. “God, I hate you. You always defeat me. Tsk,” she said.
I just laughed at her. “Shooting?” I asked and showed her my arrows. She rolled her eyes and then nodded.
I shook my head and just went to the archery room already. I was on my way there when I saw Gamma Brian.
“Celine,” he called. I immediately shifted to him.
“Gamma,” I greeted and bowed my head.
He nodded at me. “Go to the Alpha’s office once you’re finished with your archery. He said that you should join us for this meeting. It’s starting,” he said meaningfully before walking past me.
I at him nodded slowly. His word made me feel like something big was bound to happen.
‘Let’s get this training started then, huh?’
I sighed.
“We will, Cinna. We will.”
Chapter Forty-One
“You’ve been summoned,” Leila greeted me when I went back to the mansion after my archery training.
I rolled my eyes at her.
“I’ll just be back later to prepare for his lunch,” I said to her. She nodded and shooed me away.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Leila said nonchalantly while waving her hand dismissively.
I finally went upstairs, towards the Alpha’s room. I knocked twice before I heard his voice.
“Come in.”
I opened the door and slowly walked in. I was greeted by the presence of Beta Darius and Gamma Brian. There were also three trackers with them and Alpha Lucas.
“Celine, welcome to the party,” Beta Darius said and smirked at me before looking at Alpha Lucas meaningfully. But the Alpha just responded with a glare. I creased my forehead, confused about their actions.
I shook my head and just went closer to them. Gamma Brian stood up and let me sit on the visiting chair across from Beta Darius. I gave him a smile and a bow before taking a seat. Then I looked at Lucas, and my heart immediately began to do its usual summersault routine. But unlike before, it’s more bearable to be this near him now, and I don’t easily get distracted. Perhaps, I had gotten more comfortable around him after the moment that we shared together when he revealed to me the cause of my father’s death.
“I had to call you here because I want you to be part of the leading group for this battle,” Alpha Lucas started. My mouth parted slightly, unable to believe what he had just said.
Our companions look equally surprised as well. It seemed like they were also not informed about this. But Gamma Brian was able to maintain his usual poker face while Beta Darius was able to manage a smirk. He seemed to be the only one enjoying this. I don’t even know why or what he was enjoying.
I mean, seriously? He seemed to be the only one in a good mood here. Everyone else was serious, and this meeting seemed to be as serious as what I was expecting. I cleared my throat and sat properly before I looked at Alpha Lucas.
“I-I don’t know what to say,” I said.
Lucas’ deep blue eyes were just staring at me. I couldn’t recall how long he was staring at me before clearing his throat.
“Let’s start,” he announced and looked at each one of us.
“Report,” he said to the trackers. I looked at the three, too. They went near Alpha Lucas.
