“News of the Crest Moon heading over to other packs is spreading already. They seemed to be on the move the previous days. A lot of killings have happened already, Alpha. They may not have their whole pack the way they used to, but they still managed to get back other alliances from other small and big packs all over the realm. It seemed that they were forming a new pack with the hostages and the other wolves they were able to manipulate, Alpha,” one of the trackers said. My forehead creased even more. I immediately turned to the tracker.

“What happened to their previous territory now?” I asked. “Have they abandoned it already?”

One of the trackers shook his head. “The last time we checked, the werewolves there slowly moved away. We haven’t checked with our spies yet.”

I bit my lip and sighed. Gamma Brian cleared his throat. “That’s why we need to strengthen our alliances, Alpha. If they have been conquering north, then let’s go south and gather as many packs there to join us in battle. This will be the battle of the century. Crest Moon is not the kind of pack that would just give up without a fight. They will never back down, Alpha.”

I nodded in agreement. Lucas pressed his lips together and crossed his arms.

“I will be handling the negotiations personally. And you will be coming with me.” He looked at me.

I blinked multiple times.

“M-Me?” I said hesitantly as I pointed at myself. He just nodded.

“From now on, you will be coming with me for the negotiations. Let us convince them to be on our side. This is for the realm, for my father, and your father as well, Celine,” he said as he looked right into my eyes.

“Wait, what?” Beta Darius asked. We both looked at him. His brows were furrowed as he was looking at me confusingly. “What do you mean?” he asked again.

I looked at Lucas for help. He stared back at me before looking at everyone in the room. He heaved a sigh and looked back at me again as if asking for permission. I almost forgot. It’s just him who knows about my relationship with the former Beta of Crest Moon. I just nodded at him as I rested on the back of the chair.

“Celine is the daughter of my father’s best friend. Remember the former Beta of Crest Moon pack? The one killed in that ambush?”

I heard some gasping. “Fuck, what?!” Beta Darius exclaimed and looked at me in shock.

I simply gave him a small smile before nodding. His jaw dropped.

“Fuck, what a small world!” He exclaimed while shaking his head in disbelief.

“Now you know why I wanted to have her on the team,” Lucas said. Slowly, I looked up and saw how Beta Darius was smirking again.

Seriously? What is wrong with this guy? Tsk. I just shook my head.

“Alpha! Alpha!”

We were all disturbed when one of the warriors went inside the office, panting. We all turned in his direction. Beta Darius stood up, as well as Alpha Lucas.

“He’s one of the spies,” Gamma Brian said. I pressed my lips together and looked at the spy, anticipating his report.

“What is it? Why are you panting?” Lucas asked.

The spy was still catching his breath. “They’re going south, Alpha! They’re going through every pack! Those who do not agree to be their allies are drowned to death! Some were even slit in the throat! It’s either they join, or they’re dead! They went back to their pack earlier and gathered all the remaining warriors that they had. They want this battle, Alpha!”

My eyes widened, and my mouth parted in shock.

Fuck. They’re that ruthless now?! I clenched my fist in anger. I couldn’t believe that I was once a part of that pack! I couldn’t believe that the pack that I once belonged to was nothing but scheming and power-hungry wolves.

I gritted my teeth and closed my eyes tightly, trying to control the surge of rage within me. I heard the guys cursing and Alpha Lucas growling.

“They will fucking pay for that. Brian, go to the warriors and order a stricter training method and patrolling around the territory's borders. You three, get other trackers to come with you. I want you to investigate all the packs within the vicinity. I want a full investigation of what is happening outside. Darius, you are in charge of keeping this pack safe. And Celine…” He turned to me.

“Y-Yes?” I said.

“You will come with me together with Leila and the other pack warriors. We’ll find make our own alliance for this battle.”

Chapter Forty-Two

“Everyone! Be cautious in every move that you make. Crest Moon is on the move, and they are not going without a fight! Attend your role and keep this pack safe at all times. Is that clear?!” Gamma Brian’s voice roared in the whole field.
