I didn't know how many times I cursed inside my head while he gently caressed my arm as he began to teach me the basics of battle positions again. He assisted me and showed me every possible move, but my mind couldn’t properly comprehend it. Damn, I just felt like I was floating. The small distance between us made me a bit lightheaded.

‘This is different, Celine, admit it.’My wolf purred, which made my heartbeat grow wilder. Shit.

Chapter Thirty-Six

“You got it?”

I blinked multiple times. I felt like I was pulled back to reality when Alpha Lucas suddenly spoke. I just nodded at him.

“Y-Yeah, yeah. Thanks…” I said, my hands still trembling.

Damn it.

He slowly released his grip on my hand.

My heart was still thumping in my chest, and it felt like it could just pop out like a plastic balloon any minute from now. Fuck. I swallowed the lump in my throat again. I hurriedly walked out there, but I could still feel his eyes on me as if he was watching my back.

I just walked and walked. Hell, I didn’t even know where I was going.

‘And you said you weren’t distracted, huh,’my bitchy wolf said. I rolled my eyes and found myself leaving the pack.

“Where are you going?” one of the guards asked.

“Just gonna get some air,” I responded. He looked at me for a second before nodding. I sighed and continued to walk.

Hell, I do need some air right now. I need to calm myself and let this weird feeling go away.

I was walking towards the forest. My mind was still wondering about what had just happened. The whole time Alpha trained me, I felt like I was not myself. I felt like I was floating. I have never been that distracted in my whole life. Every time he gazes at me, I just can’t help but get out of focus. Something tickles my stomach, and I couldn’t even stare him in the eyes without feeling hot. Also, the way he touched my arm earlier made me think of some strange electrifying sensation all over my body.

Shit, this is bad.

I sighed and finally stopped walking. My forehead creased as I looked at my surroundings. The towering trees, thorny bushes, and rocky soil filled my vision. That’s when I realized I was already far away from the pack’s entrance.

Damn it! I was so busy thinking about what happened earlier that I couldn’t realize where I was going.

I groaned in frustration and massaged my temples. Great. I felt Cinna's taunts, and I ignored her.

Well, since I am already here, I might as well have a breather and enjoy the scenery. My eyes wandered around. I realized how this forest was so peaceful; all I could hear were the birds chirping and some rustling of the leaves because of the soft wind.

I remained standing for a few seconds, just vibing with nature, until I sensed something. I squinted and surveyed the surroundings. I felt a presence around me. I also felt that familiar manly smell. My brows furrowed. Where did I smell that again?

I continued to look around until I heard some footsteps behind me. I alerted my whole body as I heightened my senses.

“Who’s there?” I asked bravely. No one responded.

I swallowed hard and looked around. Fuck. What if those rogues suddenly show up here?!

Damn it. I’m alone! Shit. I should’ve never gone there in the first place!

A rustling sound from a nearby tree caught my ears again—my body's hair tingled in a mixture of anxiety and vigilance. A part of me is already telling me to get the hell out of here, but another part of me whispers that I should stay here and put up a fight.

Either, I think I’m screwed.

I may have been training for some time, but it’s impossible to think that I could win against many opponents when I’m clearly alone. I’m not a freaking superhero.

Screw it. I have no choice but to fight anyway. I took a deep breath when I felt a motion from behind me. My head darted in that direction as I alerted all my senses. I could hear the rustling sound getting near, but I couldn’t see anyone. Damn it.

“Show yourself-”
