Sweats were dropping on the side of my face as I hurriedly ran to Leila, who was in the kitchen already. I could feel the stares of the omegas around me, but I didn’t mind them. I was panting when I reached Leila.
“Why are you running? What is it?” she asked. I held my chest to calm myself and adjust my breathing.
“C-Can I be the one to cook and deliver the food, please? I heard the Alpha wants something specific,” I said, still catching my breath.
I overheard the other omegas talking about what the Alpha wanted for this morning when I was walking my way here. So I figured that I could volunteer to do that task. I need to be there because I have something to ask him.
Leila looked at me for a few seconds. Her brows furrowed as she surveyed me as if she was figuring out why I was so adamant about volunteering. “Hmm, the confidence, huh. Is it because he liked your dish the last time?” she asked and smirked.
I averted her eyes. “Uhh y-yeah… I guess so,” I shrugged, trying to conceal my real intention.
She stared at me for a few seconds before finally sighing in defeat. “Okay. I’ll let you do it,” she said.
A small smile crept on my lips. “Thank you! Thank you!”
“Welcome. Make us proud,” she smirked. I just smiled at her, too.
“Take the lead,” she said and pointed me to the kitchen.
“Thank you.”
I quickly went to the table and got an apron. I tied my hair and started preparing the things I needed for the dish. We were all in a hurry. But despite that, I was very careful with what I was doing. It took us almost an hour to finally finish the dish. I sighed and fixed myself.
“Everyone, prepare,” Leila instructed as we headed to the mansion's dining room.
Four of the omegas were pushing the cart where the dishes were while I was walking with them on the side. As we were nearing the table, I could feel my heart beating fast. I was already practicing what to say in my mind, but I still couldn’t be that confident. We stopped meters away from the Alpha’s seat. The other omegas began to serve the food. When they were done, they went to my side and awaited the Alpha’s following orders. I clasped my hands together.
“You can all leave me now,” he said, which made me look at him. The others were leaving already, but I didn’t move. I stood there, looking at him. His eyes darted in my direction when he noticed I had not left.
I held my breath when our eyes met.
“Didn’t you hear me?” he asked, brows furrowed.
I gulped hard. In one second, the script that I practiced in my brainwashed out. Damn it. Nevertheless, I still heaved a sigh and gathered all my courage to speak. “I have something to ask, Alpha,” I said.
“What?” he said while staring intently at me.
“I want to be trained to be as skilled as the pack warriors. In return, I will be loyal to the pack and will even help you in every battle.”
Chapter Twelve
“Are you serious?” Lucas asked mockingly.
A smirk slowly crept on his lips. It was as if he was mocking and making fun of me.
“I am, Sir. I am very serious. Please let me be trained,” I said again, emphasizing and ensuring that he gets my message right. But then, he just chuckled.
“And you think you can amend your uselessness with that?”
My mouth parted. I felt a stinging pain in my chest again. I swallowed hard. No matter how much I wanted to cry at that moment, I still urged myself to hold back the tears.
Why is he this harsh on me? Doesn’t he want me to be useful to his pack?
“But you said I am weak. That I have no contribution to your pack. Now, I’m standing in front of you, asking you to help me to be of use in your pack. I don’t understand,” I replied.
He didn’t answer. He took a deep breath before standing up and meeting my gaze.
“I am in the middle of a war. I need all my resources to win,” he said, frustration evident in his voice. “And you’re telling me you want me to waste my warriors’ time and talents just to train you?”
