“I-It’s true! I am t-telling you the truth!” I said, trying so hard to convince him. I could feel my whole body shaking. Shit.

“Are you sure?” I nodded my head multiple times. I felt my eyes stinging. Damn it. What is wrong with him?! What did I do?!

“I-I’m sorry about last n-night, o-okay? I-I didn’t mean to go there,” Just one more push, one more push, and these tears I have been holding will come out already.

“Why did you leave Crestmoon, then? Why can’t you tell me?” He was nearing and nearing, and I kept on stepping back until I could no longer find the strength to step back. I closed my eyes tight.

“I-I was banished! M-My mate rejected me because I was weak! T-They didn’t want a weakling!”

I bit my lip hard as the tears started to flow already. That was when I opened my eyes. I looked at him and saw how he stopped just a few meters away from me. It looked like he was stunned. I heaved a sigh and looked away.

“P-Please let me stay here,” I said in a small voice.

Silence enveloped us.

“Just stay out of my way whenever I deal with your previous pack, and you won’t hear anything from me.”

I sighed. “O-Okay…”

***

I let out a sigh as I looked at the field of the pack. The warriors were having their training. An omega relayed the news earlier about a pack in the north kidnapping innocent wolves to enslave them. Alpha Lucas immediately ordered the pack to get ready, and they will raid the said pack. To be honest, I was in awe. They were going to help them and fight the oppressors.

I have only been here in for two days. But the short time here made me realize that my former prejudice toward them was wrong. All my life, I believed the information I heard while still in Crestmoon; that the Blood Moon Pack are vicious werewolves, but it’s clear that those were only false rumors. The people here are very kind; they even accept me when I have nowhere to go. My fellow Omegas have also treated me well. Now, I have also learned that they are helping other werewolves who are in need. They are not a barbaric pack, after all.

The only thing that bothers me is the Alpha. Although he may not be as ruthless as the rumors suggest, I still could not shake off the fear I felt toward him after our earlier conversation.

I bit my lip hard and massaged my temple. Why am I in this situation? Oh god…

I let out a sigh and looked around again. I was already done with our chores, and all the other servants were doing their thing, so I had the chance to watch the warriors here. I also saw the Gamma and the Beta roaming around. My eyes wandered around the place, and they stopped in one corner where I saw Alpha Lucas dueling with a warrior.

I stared at him as he expertly swung his sword at his opponent. I couldn’t help but be amazed and scared at the same time. Who could have thought that I would be able to witness the ruthless Alpha of Blood Moon in action?

His speed and precise movements are on a different level. Wow. I still couldn’t believe this. I mean, now I know why he was labeled to be ruthless and why everyone in our pack was scared of him. He is such an incredible fighter.

I wonder if I could even be at least half as strong as him? How does it feel to be that good? How does it feel to be fearless because you know you can protect yourself?

“Staring are we, huh?”

I jolted when I heard Leila’s voice behind me.

I pursed my lips and looked at her. “Do you know how to fight?” I blurted out. It was very random, but I could not help but ask.

Leila’s brow furrowed. “Why are you interested?”

I shrugged. “I just want to ask.”

She stared at me with a perplexed expression. “Of course, I know how to fight. Alpha Lucas made sure that everyone in this pack is capable of fighting.”

My mouth parted. I looked at the Alpha, who was obviously winning his sparring. Then I turned to Leila again. “Can you help me learn how to fight?” I asked.

“What?” she said, evidently shocked.

“Train me, Leila. Train me to be strong. Please?” I begged.

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Please, please. I want to be strong! I want to learn how to fight!”
