“U-Uh…y-yeah, of course,” I replied and looked away. I sighed.
“That’s the exact feeling that I have felt for years after they took away something important from me,” he said in a small voice.
This is my first time seeing him intentionally barring his vulnerability like he has finally let his guard down in front of me.
I couldn’t say a thing, and my eyes were still fixed on the scenery in front of us. I couldn’t face him and honestly did not know what to say. This is what I’m talking about. I’m not good in this kind of situation.
The only thing I could think of was how my heart wouldn’t stop beating loudly against my chest. Damn it.
I don’t exactly know how to feel now that he’s gradually showing his true emotions to me. A part of me was nervous about it, but the other part of me thought that this was a great opportunity for me to gather more information that might be related to my father’s ambush.
I bit my lip as I searched my brain for any possible response I could say to him right now. But he suddenly spoke before I could come up with anything decent.
“You know what? I don’t care about power or status. But the Crest Moon pack was different. They are hungry for it, and they sought any way to gain more power than they already have,” he said, his voice laced with disgust. “You said it yourself; the family leading their pack has been there for centuries. But they’re still not contented with the power they wield within their pack. They want more. They want to dominate the whole Wolf Realm and be worshipped as if they were kings,” he spat.
The anger in his voice was palpable. He turned to face me while clenching his jaw.
“At first, I didn’t care, but as the years of battle commenced, I realized that those bastards needed to be stopped, especially after they took something away from me. They are not kings. We do not have kings here. We do not bow to anyone. What’s worse is that their allied packs also started to bring chaos as well. They have converted into rogues, not minding if they shed the blood of the innocents. They all have the same goal and the same thirst for power. They were blinded by greed, and I don’t have plans just to stand here and watch them rain havoc in the realm. I will do everything in my power to stop them so that justice could prevail,” he said in a determined voice.
I was stunned by his proclamation. I didn’t know that he had such a noble heart.
He suddenly held my hand, which made me jolt a bit. I looked at him in shock, but his eyes just intently stared at me while holding my hand, like nothing else mattered to him at that moment.
“You have been fed with wrong information, Celine. Your previous pack has fooled you,” he said. I could see the anger that briefly flashed through his eyes.
I couldn’t move. I couldn’t react. Silence embraced us; all I could hear was the loud beating of my heart. He gently squeezed my hand as our eyes remained knotted.
He heaved a sigh. “We are the resistance, Celine. I have been meticulously crafting our plan for years. Because we have also been wronged for years. I’m not going to accept another dead body without taking him down,” he whispered angrily.
My eyes widened, and my mouth parted as I looked at him. From that moment, I may have not said it, but I knew that I began to see the pack and the Alpha in a different light. At that moment, I was finally sure of something concerning my father’s case. I was convinced that neither Blood Moon nor Lucas killed my father. If that’s the case, then who killed him? What really happened during that night?
Those were the questions that remained unanswered in my head. A huge piece of the puzzle is still missing. But I was glad that I could still get some information from Lucas.

The next morning, I still couldn’t forget what Lucas said last night. When I returned to my room, I thought I’d be able to sleep already, but I was wrong because I still couldn’t. I managed to stay all night and woke up very early the next day.
I was alone in the kitchen, waiting for the Alpha’s request and the other omegas to come. I needed to distract myself, so I won't be bothered with thoughts about Lucas.
I sighed and buried my face in my hands when I suddenly heard some noises outside. My head shot up, and I quickly went out. I was about to check what was happening, but I immediately stopped on my track in the doorway when I saw that it was Alpha Lucas on the field with some pack warriors, Beta Darius and the Gamma.
They were doing combat routines as well as weaponry.
My forehead creased. Were they training this early? What’s with the aggressiveness? And I was not even informed that we’re supposed to have training this early. Isn’t it a bit odd?
I sighed and crossed my arms on my chest. My eyes were focused on Alpha Lucas, who was leading the training. Gone was the vulnerable and emotional Lucas last night; it looked like he was a different monster already. His moves were splendid, and he was more aggressive.
“Hey.”
I was pulled back to reality when I felt a tap on my back. I turned my head only to see Leila standing behind me. Our fellow omegas are also going back to the kitchen.
I cleared my throat and stood straight. “Hey, good morning,” I greeted her.
She didn’t answer immediately. She was just looking at me and looked like she wanted to ask something, but she didn’t ask anyway.
“Uhh, they seemed to be pumped up with training,” I said and looked at the werewolves on the field...
“The Alpha’s determined to bring down your previous pack. He didn’t take that loss lightly.” She turned to me. My mouth parted a bit. I sighed and slowly nodded.
