“Yeah, looks like it,” I replied.

Leila’s gaze remained on me. “Are you going in or what? We’ll have to prepare breakfast for them,” she said. I smiled and just nodded.

“I’ll be there.”

“Okay,” she said and went inside. I was left alone, quietly looking at my fellow warriors training in the field, when I suddenly noticed that the Alpha was also looking at me. Our eyes locked, and I noticed how he clenched his jaw while holding his sword.

“Good morning, Celine,”he mindlinked, which made me startled for a bit. I felt an abrupt change in my heartbeat as I bit my lip. I heaved a sigh and just gave him a small smile before quickly turning my back to join the other servants in the kitchen.

Chapter Thirty-Three

The whole day, our troops were just training nonstop. I even joined them when I was done with my task at the mansion. When dinner came, the pack warriors were invited to the mansion, so we had to prepare an extra meal for them. I even thought we had a meeting because Alpha Lucas asked all the pack warriors inside. We even have to add more chairs just for them to fit in. But then it just turned out to be a normal dinner for all of us.

"Alpha Lucas is a bit different these days."

"I noticed that, too."

"That last battle affected him, I guess."

Those were just some of the things I overheard from the omegas’ leisure conversations while helping them clean the kitchen. I cleared my throat as I felt Leila's eyes on me.

Then she suddenly nudged me and asked.

"Why aren't you there?" she asked curiously.

I turned to her and creased my forehead.

"Do I need to be there? I'm fine here. I'll just help you guys," I replied.

She raised a brow. "I'm just asking. It seemed that the battle really affected the Alpha. Has he talked to you about it?"

My eyes widened. I was caught off-guard by her question that I couldn’t answer immediately.

"What?" she asked once again.

I swallowed hard as I remembered my fateful encounter with Lucas last night.

"N-No…I-I mean, uhm, why are you asking me?" I quickly averted my gaze. I needed to take a deep breath to calm myself.

"Chill. I was just asking. I just observed that you two had been closed after that battle. I guess it's because you both share the same sentiments about the Crest Moon?" she said.

Shit. I don't know why she's suddenly curious about Lucas and me. I couldn’t help but feel anxious about her raging questions. But damn it, is there even something to be anxious about?

'You tell me? Is there something to be anxious about?'

I almost rolled when I heard Cinna speak in my mind.I closed my eyes in irritation.

Shut up, Cinna!

"You're weird,” I was taken aback when Leila spoke again.

I looked at Leila again, but she was already focused on what she was doing. I just brushed off Cinna’s remarks and decided to focus on doing the chores. After doing my kitchen tasks, I finally went out to join the warriors for training. The Alpha and Beta also joined us, but the Gamma was nowhere to be found. So I guess he went out or something.

We were in the field, practicing our combat and weaponry.

"Ha! Ha! Yah!"

"Ahh!" my sparring partner groaned when I pinned him down on the floor with his face on the ground.
