She looked at me and creased her forehead. Then she looked somewhere as if she was thinking of something.

“The Alpha must have known something, then.”

My eyes widened. “What?!” Leila eyed me immediately. I bit my lip and covered my mouth. “I’ll check what to do later. I could distract the guards for you or something, but you still need to be careful, okay? Don’t worry. I’ll help you get out. For now, I just need to observe where the guards are stationed,” she whispered.

I took a deep breath and nodded slowly. “But what if the Alpha noticed?”

Leila glared at me. “That’s why you need to be extra careful!” she whispered harshly. I pouted.

“I’m worried!” I complained, but she just rolled her eyes.

“Stop worrying and just be careful, okay? And don’t be foolish! Be smart,” I bit my lip and just nodded at her. She moved closer to me. “Later, you will be in your room and wait for my signal, okay?”

“What signal?”

“You’ll know later.”

I creased my forehead, perplexed by her strategy. “How?” I asked curiously.

I heard Leila groan as she widened her eyes at me. “I told you, you’ll get it once I’m there. You’re not that dumb, right?”

I made a face and rolled my eyes as well.

“What are you girls whispering there in the corner?”

Shocked, Leila and I almost jumped on our feet when we heard that voice. We quickly turned around only to see Alpha Lucas was casually standing a few meters away from us. Both of his hands were inside his pockets as he raised a brow at us.

My body stiffened in surprise. I did not expect his presence at all! Leila was also glued to her shoes, effectively avoiding her eyes from the Alpha.

Shit. Did he overhead our conversation earlier?

“Uhh, I was just telling Celine about what to cook for you, Alpha,” Leila managed to say. I immediately nodded to support her.

“Y-Yes, Alpha! I was just asking her about the particular dishes you like,” I chimed in, trying hard to put a smile on my face.

Damn, it. Act natural, Celine!

He stared at us for a bit, trying to gauge what we said. In the end, he just nodded.

“Prepare four dishes this evening. The pack warriors are going to eat with me tonight.”

“Yes, Sir! I will!” I answered enthusiastically while flashing the sweetest smile that I could muster. He just stared at me before turning his back on us. That was when I was able to breathe in relief. Oh gosh.

Leila turned to me. “This will be a great opportunity. Wait for me tonight,” she said before walking away and leaving me there. I massaged my temple and slightly shook my head.

I didn’t exactly know how Leila was able to get into my room that night. The last thing I remembered was that I was just in my room, waiting for her after we finished our task that evening. Minutes later, she appeared out of nowhere and signaled me to go out already. When I went out, surprisingly, there were no guards outside. So, I took that opportunity to run to the training room.

I looked at Leila in amusement when she entered the room a few minutes after I arrived.

“Where did you take them?” I asked suspiciously.

She just raised a brow. “Take whom?” she even denied. I rolled my eyes.

“Whatever, so, will this be our routine every evening? Are you sure they won’t be able to notice?”

I had to make sure that we won’t be in danger with this. Leila just looked at me nonchalantly. “We’ll still see, but don’t worry, we will make it through. That is if you don’t give up.”
