“Let’s go,” she said and headed towards the door behind the staircase. I rolled my eyes and just followed her again. She opened the door. “This will be your room from now on. Fix your things and just find a way for later. I’ll be waiting for you. Same time, the same place.”

With that, she left me. My eyes followed her until she finally left the mansion.

I look around. The living room was vast and spacious. There was just minimal furniture and some paintings hanging on the walls. I heaved a sigh and went inside the room. I was not sure if it was a guest room or something, but it differed from our room in the quarters. This room is purely mine. There was a double-sized bed and one cabinet. Just like the living room, it was spacious since there weren't a lot of things in it. I placed my bag inside the cabinet before sitting down on the bed. Thankfully. There was also a wall clock here, so I was able to monitor the time.

I knew I was supposed to be unpacking, but then I couldn’t help but think about what will happen at my training tonight. I needed to find a way to get out of the mansion at our time. I took a deep breath and went to my clothes to change for my training later. It will pass as sleepwear since it was just black leggings and a simple white shirt. These are Leila’s clothes, by the way. After changing, I slowly arranged my things to kill time. When I was done, that’s when I got up and slowly walked out of the room.

My steps and moves were calculated as I marched towards the main door. When I reached the door and could already see what the guards were doing outside, I immediately examined the surroundings. I thought of going through the shadows and the dark alleys until I could reach the backyard. I couldn’t use the kitchen door since I would be too exposed there. The main door was the best choice given that there were dark corners that weren’t reached by the lights. I looked around again. The guards were roaming around the front yard. Slowly, I opened the door and slid myself out. I leaned my back on the wall and carefully walked sideward to the left as I fixed my eyes on what the guards were doing.

My heart felt like it was about to go out of my chest. I couldn’t recall how many times I stopped just because I was too nervous to move. But then, I just couldn’t give up. Slowly but surely. That’s what I did until finally, I reached the backyard. Oh, thank god -

“What are you still doing here?”

“Shit!”

Chapter Seventeen

I almost jumped in shock when a guard appeared in front of me. I felt like my whole body froze.

“What are you doing here, Omega?”

I cursed in my head. I bit my lip hard as the two guards looked intently at me. Oh gosh.

“Uhh, I-I…I was hoping to get some fresh air,” I managed to say as an excuse. I swallowed the lump in my throat and immediately turned away to avert their prying eyes.

“It’s the middle of the night. You should go back to your room,” one of them barked.

Shit. This is what I’m talking about. It’s just impossible to get past the mansion’s security. But I need to meet Leila tonight! What should I do?

I bit my lip hard. Damn it. Think, Celine, think! I was already panicking inside, thinking about the excuse I should make, but I just could not think of anything! Oh my gosh.

“Go inside now, Omega,” I heard the other guard say, and I didn’t have the guts to say anything back. Damn it.

I walked inside the mansion with a heavy heart. I felt like my whole self was shattered because of what happened. Weakly, I returned to my room and slumped my butt on my bed. Great. My training with Leila has just started, yet I’m already absent on the second day. It cannot go on this way! I need this training. I need to find something, an excuse, so that I can continue my training.

I slept that night with a heavy heart. I was really looking forward to the training, but then this happened. And I was so freaking guilty about Leila. I really hope she didn’t wait for too long. I mean, she’s smart, and I think she might have sensed what happened. I really hope she didn’t wait for that long. I wasn’t even able to sleep that well because of it. Gosh, I really need to think of something to solve this problem.

“Good morning, Celine! How was the first night in the mansion?” Mera, an omega, greeted me that morning. On the way to the kitchen, I found her, along with the other two omegas arranging and cleaning the marbles.

I just gave them a small smile.

“Yeah, you’re so lucky, Celine!” the other omega beamed and even went closer to me.

“Do you know that you are the only omega the Alpha invited to be his cook, and he even let you stay in the mansion! Oh my gosh, you must be something special, huh, Celine!”

“Yeah, oh my gosh, how to be you, Celine?!”

I smiled at them uncomfortably. Gosh, why are they hovering over me? I don’t know how or why I was in that situation, and lucky? No, I was not lucky. This situation was frustrating!

“Celine.”

I thanked God when I heard that interruption. I quickly turned around and saw Leila just a few meters from us.

“Leila!” I called and went up to her already. “Oh, thank God, you came!” I told her and pulled her to the side, away from the curious omegas.

“And you didn’t come last night,” she said coldly. I bit my lip.

“That’s what I was about to tell you!” I said, still keeping the volume of my voice to a low. She heaved a sigh and then crossed her arms. She was waiting for my explanation. I took a deep breath. “I was about to go to our meeting place last night, but the guards caught me! I couldn’t think of an excuse. The security was so tight, so I had no choice but to go back to my room, or else we’ll both be doomed,” I explained, frustration evident in my voice.
