“Me too. How about one of each bourbon?”

“Beck…” I whispered.

“And a T-shirt, key chain, refrigerator magnet?”

I giggled. “Yes, yes, yes.”

He laughed and, bending down, kissed me again.

We left the distillery and got back in the waiting car.

“Do you mind if we have dinner at the loft instead of going to a restaurant?” he asked.

“Not at all. Have you had any barbecue since you’ve been here?”

“Nope.”

“Oh, dear me.”

“Help a guy out, Violet.”

Back at the loft, we got cozy on the couch and watched a movie on Netflix. I ordered food from my favorite barbecue restaurant, which arrived within the hour. We unpacked the bags together in the living room. “I know I ordered a lot, but I wanted you to try it. Who knows when you’ll be back in Nashville, so this is an opportunity for your taste buds.” I’d also ordered at least ten different local craft beers.

We dug in on the living room floor, both of us ravenous.

“I think I have sauce everywhere.” He laughed, licking his fingers.

Beck’s gaze shot to his phone on the coffee table between us. His eyes narrowed as he read, he tapped on his screen. His lips twisted as he wiped his hands on a bunch of napkins.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Jude sent me a link to a gossip article.”

“About you?”

“About Mae.”

“Oh. Good news? Bad news? Ugly?”

He showed me his phone.

Mae Sullivan and her girlfriend,stylist to the stars, Petra, have now added a new friend to their mix, none other than Mae’s lead dancer on her recent tour, Tobias Grimm. On her Instagram account the singer posted a picture of the three of them dancing in a nightclub in Sardinia:

“3 is my favorite number, what’s yours?”

Mae’s next album should be a fascinating listen, we know we can’t wait!
