“Have faith in yourself, young one. You are a remarkable one, in more ways than one.”
Lily just nodded as Joshua shuffled off, and I looked between the two brothers.
“Well, guess we should charge her up then, get this done and dusted so we can be on our merry way back to retirement.” Lucifer hopped to his feet and rubbed his hands together before snatching up some more cheese. “Wine would’ve been nice. Your retirement sure is boring,” he smirked as Michael rose.
“We all have our own tastes,” was Michael’s response.
Lily sucked in a breath, and I moved closer, itching to just wrap an arm around her completely. But it didn’t feel right in the presence of the two brothers, so I remained with my hand just touching her waist comfortingly, hoping it was enough.
“Well, I guess the sooner we do this, the sooner everything goes back to normal. My brother and I will have to pull the angels back into line, I’m assuming you’ll assist me in that before you return to Hell?” Michael arched a brow at his brother.
“Sure, I’ve already got my Princes serving their punishment, and the demons have been reprimanded for following them. My domain is under control,” he smirked. “So I have time to help you get your lot under control too. Besides, I want to watch as this young lady closes the gates of Hell for good.”
Lucifer cast a delighted grin to Lily, and she smiled back before glancing over my brothers and I.
This was it. We were here, and we were so close to finally being done with it all.
But despite my excitement for it to finally be over, an uneasiness settled over me.
What would become of the other demonics and us once the rips were closed? I just swallowed down my uncertainty, praying Lily could speak reason with the angels. But my brothers and I were even stronger than the other demonics now, and that worried me. Would we be considered too much of a threat?
