“Awww. Thanks, Rudy.” I take a deep breath. “Okay, you’re positive that I look good enough?”
“You’re fine,” he tells me with a wave of his hand. “You look great, girl. Now Ava, she’s really hopeless with no fashion sense. Bless her heart. My poor little Avalanche. But you’re perfectly capable.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence. And you look wonderful too—I’m so sorry for interrupting your makeup. I’m sure it will be stunning once it’s complete, and you’re going to have an amazing night!”
“Girl, I hope so. Once I get my eyelashes on, I am no longer Rudy. I will be completely transformed into the sultry, stunning, star of the show: Vixen VavaVoom. And she sure could use an amazing night over here.”
We say our goodbyes, and I gather my things and head outside to wait for the car that’s picking me up. When it arrives, it’s a small limousine—a Lincoln Town Car with a chauffeur. I seem to recall seeing this vehicle before. I’m a bit startled, and trying to dig in my memory for information until the driver steps out and opens the door to the backseat for me.
“Miss Juniper Snow?” he asks, gesturing for me to enter.
“Yes,” I answer, as I move to get in. It’s probably just a car I’ve seen picking up kids from daycare. But there are so many kids and so many cars that it’s impossible to remember them all.
Butterflies dance in my stomach. I really hope I get this job.
