“That’s quite young to be married.” She narrows her eyes at me like she’s getting ready to go on the defensive. “I don’t mean anything by it. Hell, my sister got married before she was nineteen, and they’re happy as can be.” I see her visibly relax at my words and I’m glad.
“Sorry, it’s just that we have so many people telling us how stupid we were to get married at eighteen, but we’ve known since the day we met that it was real.”
I nod in understanding. “Believe it or not, I actually get that. My sister was eighteen when she married my best friend, who is the same age as me.”
Both of their eyes widen, and I bark out a laugh at how sweet and adorable they look.
“Your sister married your best friend?” Peter asks, and I nod.
“Yep, she sure did.”
He whistles low as the waitress comes back with the pitcher of lemon water and glasses.
“That’s brave,” he says under his breath, so the waitress doesn’t eavesdrop.
I snort, because it really was brave of Lillypad to stick to her guns when it came to her feelings for Landon.
“Are you ready to order?” She looks at me again, and I slightly narrow my eyes, letting her know I’m not impressed with her ignoring the others, and she starts to fidget.
“We haven’t looked at the menu yet. Please give us a few more minutes.” I stay polite, but the edge to my voice is clear. She nods and walks away, and I turn my attention back on the couple across from me. “It was brave. On both of their parts actually, but when your parents have a hand in it, there’s only so much you can do to stop it.” I shrug, and pick up the menu, giving them time to do the same.
I already know what I’m going to order, but I don’t want them to feel awkward or out of place as they look over their menus.
Julie picks up her menu, glancing through it before nodding to herself and laying it back down.
I do the same as Peter follows suit.
“Your parents were supportive of that large an age gap?” Julie asks while she watches me closely, and I nod.
“They’ve known Landon since we were kids. As Lilly got older, they noticed him becoming protective of her in less than a brotherly way, I guess? I don’t know. If I’m being honest, I didn’t really pay attention to how close they were getting until they smacked me in the face with it.” I chuckle at the memory of showing up at his house and punching him in the face before Lilly got in between us. “He’s good for her, and they’ve proven to me that age really is just a number. If the love is real, age won’t stop it from blossoming.”
Julie smiles at me wide as the waitress comes back.
Once we’ve ordered and she’s left, I look at them and take a deep breath.
“Are you both aware of how dangerous your ad is?” I think my voice is sterner than I intended, but this is the protective side of me coming out.
“We are really new to this. I was planning on taking it down because we got some very creepy responses, but then you emailed us.” She’s fidgeting a bit as she explains.
“I think you should take it down and maybe look into joining a club, or a website that caters to the BDSM community. Were you aware those things existed?” I ask, looking between them, and Peter’s brows furrow in confusion.
“We know they exist, but like Julie said. We’re very new to this whole thing.”
I give him a reassuring smile. “I understand that but using Chrislist is very dangerous, and I worry for you.”
Julie straightens her back. “I don’t really know how else to go about it.” She looks like she wants to say more, but she doesn’t.
“I can help you connect with the right people in a safe way so you can find what you’re looking for.” I really hope they know this is coming from a true place of concern, and not me being a jackass.
Chapter2
Peter
He wants to help us find what we’re looking for? Does that mean he isn’t a Daddy?
I look over at my wife and see she’s processing his words as well, so I move my gaze back to him and squeeze her hand in silent support.
“Are you not interested?” I ask.
