“You’re a killjoy sometimes, you know that, Daddy?”

I wince when she calls him that. It’s still fucking weird as shit to know anything about my sister and best friend that happens behind closed doors.

“Trey.” Julie swats my chest and I look down at her in surprise. “Don’t be a judgemental prude,” she hisses at me, and Lilly bursts into giggles.

“Oh, I like her. Hi! I’m Lilly!” she greets them, a huge smile on her face, and I feel them both relax.

“Julie, but you can call me Jules if you’d like.” My girl smiles at my sister, and it warms my heart that they seem to be connecting immediately.

“Oooo, it’s such a pretty name!” Lilly looks from her to Pete, and he blushes.

“I’m Peter,” he says shyly, and Lilly’s eyes fill with tears.

I watch as Landon pulls her into his arms, kissing her head and making her feel better.

“Don’t mind Lill. She knows how much Trey cares for you which means she already loves you. Knowing you were injured makes her a little emotional,” he explains, and the look of wonderment fills both my loves faces.

“I….I—” he looks up to me for help, and I smile, bending down to kiss his head.

“It’s okay, buddy. You have a caring family now,” I tell him.

“You don’t have a family?” Lillypad asks, gasping in shock.

My sweet jewel being the woman she is, gives her a sad smile. “Our family hasn’t really supported us since we got married the day we turned eighteen.” She shrugs like it’s not a big deal, but the hurt in her voice is clear.

“Well, that’s just stupid!” Lilly nods, looking fierce. “Landon and I got married when I was eighteen and it was the best decision I ever made.” She looks at my best friend with all the love she possesses, and it warms my heart. “Family is supposed to be your ride or die.” She shakes her head. “Oh well, you have us now. I know you met Mom and Dad.” She giggles.

“They did. Hey, how’s my nephew?” I ask, and Lilly sighs.

“I swear you love him more than you love me these days.” She rolls her eyes as I chuckle.

“I love you both, and you know it,” I point out just as Cameron starts to cry.

“That’s our cue. Gotta go. Love you, bro. It was nice meeting you both. As soon as I’m in better condition to leave the house, I can’t wait to meet you!” Lilly says, before her and Landon end the call.

“What did she mean by better condition?” Pete asks, looking at me with worry, and I smile.

“Lilly had some serious complications when Cameron was born a few months ago, and it’s made her stay at home a lot. She’s getting a lot better, but still tires easily,” I explain, and they nod in understanding.

“I can’t wait to meet her!” Jewel squeaks, and I smile.

“I think the three of you together are going to cause all kinds of mischief for Landon and I.” I sigh like it’s such a hardship, but the smile on my face tells them the real story.

BEEP.

My door alarm goes off, and I stand up, checking the camera at the elevator to make sure it’s our food. Once that’s confirmed, I buzz them up and turn back to my loves.

“It’s dinner. Go wash your hands now, and we’ll clean up the toys afterward.”

Pete’s stomach grumbles loudly at that, making them both giggle as they make their way to the bathroom.

I want this to be my life every day.

After we’ve haddinner and cleaned up the toys, it’s getting late enough for Pete’s stronger pain meds. The ones that will help him sleep, so Julie and I help tuck him in, snuggling on either side of him.

He’s gotten better at being able to snuggle with us as long as Jules is on his good side since she moves around a lot more in her sleep than I do. I make sure to hold his hand every night, and it feels amazing and meaningful, and just right.

Everything with them does.
