As soon as Brie opened the door, Lea stared at her belly in shock. “Whoa, that baby is about to pop! Should we move your baby shower up?”

Brie laughed. “Nope. I still have more than four weeks to go.”

Lea shook her head but continued to stare at her stomach as she walked inside.

“Is there a problem?” Brie laughed, amused by Lea’s sudden interest in her belly.

She blushed. “I didn’t mean to be rude, Stinky Cheese. I’m just trying to imagine what it’s like.”

“It’s uncomfortable when you get to this point in the pregnancy,” Brie admitted, rubbing her belly. “But it’s worth it. I’m actually looking forward to going full term this time. It’ll be nice to have a normal pregnancy, especially since this will be our last.”

Lea looked surprised. “You’re not planning to have any more?”

“This is it for us. Girl or boy, this little one is the last Davis for our little family.”

Lea pouted. “That actually makes me kinda sad.”

“Why?” Brie chuckled.

“You and Sir make such beautiful babies.”

Brie put an arm around Lea. “I bet you will, too.”

Lea’s blush grew a deeper shade of red. “Nope…not going to happen.”

“Still weirded out by the whole pregnancy thing, huh?”

“I totally love the fucking part of the process,” she stated enthusiastically, then shuddered. “But the idea of having an alien in my stomach for nine months gives me the heebie-jeebies.”

“Does Hunter want kids?”

Lea giggled. “It’s not like we talk about that kind of stuff, silly.”

Brie raised her eyebrows. “Oh, so you two aren’t serious?”

“I’m not saying that…”

“So, you are?” Brie prodded, grinning.

To avoid answering the question, Lea blurted, “Hey, do you know why babies born on holidays are more likely to be little girls?”

Sir walked up and surprised them both when he willingly took the plunge, “Tell me, Ms. Taylor, why are they more likely to be girls?”

Lea’s eyes grew wide when she was confronted by this unexpected exchange with Sir and squeaked, “Because there is no mail delivery on holidays.”

Sir stared at her with a stoic expression. “I see.”

His serious tone made Lea’s bad joke even funnier to Brie and she burst out laughing.

Lea gave her a dubious look before joining in her laughter, then hip bumping her. “Good one, huh?”

“Good would be an exaggeration, Ms. Taylor. Mildly entertaining? Possibly…” Sir gave Brie a private wink.

Lea stared at him, uncertain how to respond.

He broke the silence by informing Brie, “I’m taking Hope into my office so you can spend time alone together.”

“Thank you, Sir,” Brie answered, bowing gratefully to him.
