Brie giggled. “We know the only reason you invited the two of us was to see Hope.”
Rytsar put his hand over his heart and looked properly wounded. He then proceeded to whisk Hope from her arms.
“Let me show you your new room, moye solntse.”
Brie glanced at Sir before following Rytsar down the hallway to one of his guest rooms. She was touched when she saw the plaque on the door. It was a colorful sun that resembled the one tattooed on his palm, and it had the words “moye solntse” written around the center of it.
“That’s so sweet, Rytsar,” she cooed, tracing the words around the sun.
“You haven’t seen anything yet,” he stated proudly as he opened the door.
Brie’s jaw dropped when she stepped inside with Sir beside her. The first thing she spotted was a crib with a canopy of white silk. To the right of the crib was a huge white dresser that was taller than Brie.
Curious, she asked if she could open a drawer.
“But of course,” Rytsar answered, gesturing to it.
Brie walked over and pulled out a middle drawer. Inside were a variety of frilly dresses separated by color. Brie shook her head as she opened another drawer. It had an array of tiny bathing suits.
“What have you done, bought out a whole store?” she teased.
“I wantmoye solntseto have whatever she needs when she visits me.”
“We’re only going to be a few houses down,” Brie laughed.
Sir nodded to the left side of the room. “What’s with the horse?”
Brie turned to see a replica of a miniature pony set on wooden rockers. It looked real, from its black and white fur and long mane, to its soft brown eyes with long lashes.
“Every young lady needs a horse, and I didn’t wantmoye solntselacking for one until she is old enough to own a real one.”
Sir shook his head, but it was obvious that Hope was entranced by the miniature pony by the way she reached out for the horse and then looked up at Rytsar pleadingly. He walked over to it, giving Sir a smug expression as Hope grabbed the mane with both hands and squealed in delight.
“You’re incorrigible,” Sir muttered.
“I’m thedyadya, it’s my right.”
Brie smiled. “But, Rytsar, you promised you weren’t going to spoil her.”
“This is not spoiling,” he insisted, glancing around the room. “If you knew what I wanted to get her, you would understand that I’ve shown the greatest restraint.”
Brie glanced over at Sir, who had a bemused expression on his face.
Rytsar pointed. “Did you see that I set up a comfortable area for you to nurse her, radost moya?”
She looked in the corner of the room he was pointing to and saw a rocking chair with intricate flower designs covering it. Beside it was a small table with a lampshade with the same flowery pattern. He walked over and opened the little table drawer. “I have only the best treats should you get hungry while you nurse.”
Brie shook her head, stunned when she looked inside. There were little pretty packages of nuts, dried fruit, a yummy looking confection labeled a lactation cookie, and dark chocolates with raspberry.
“And I even bought the most advanced breast pump on the market so there’s no need to worry about bringing your own, should you have need of one.”
Grinning, he picked up a remote on the little table. “As far as sleep time?Moye solntsewill drift into dreamland to only the finest music.” He clicked the remote and the lights in the room dimmed as tiny stars lit up the ceiling and a soft sonata played in the background.
“She is guaranteed sweet dreams when she is here.”
When Rytsar turned the lights back up, Brie glanced around the room again, noting that he had supplied it with every baby convenience known to man. “You don’t think this is overkill, even for adyadya?”
“Not at all,” he assured her.
