“It was our pleasure, Sir,” they answer in unison.

Durov walks up behind me, slapping me on the back. “You don’t look half bad—for a peasant.”

I chuckle and jab him in the ribs.

Miss Dunningham smiles as I head to the elevators and calls out, “Happy Graduation Day, Mr. Davis.”

I wave and smile back, before stepping into the elevator. When it stops and the doors open, I’m taken aback. The commons area has been transformed for the evening, and it now features black and gold cloth cascading from the ceiling down to the floor on every wall. A stage has been set up at the back, and there are six round tables elaborately decorated for the ceremony.

This is a far more formal affair than I expected.

Kat calls out to me. I turn and see she’s dressed in a black latex dress with a plunging neckline and dark eye makeup that sets off her brown eyes and ruby lips.

“You are looking stunning this evening,” I tell her.

She looks at my suit, and lightly grazes her fingers over my red tie, nodding in approval. “You clean up pretty well yourself.”

Ravenson joins us. He looks distinguished in his tailored, three-piece herringbone suit. “It seems odd we won’t be attending class next week, doesn’t it?”

“I agree,” I answer, feeling a tinge of melancholy. “I’ll miss seeing you both.”

“What about me?” Slater asks, strolling up to us. He is wearing dark jeans, a partially unbuttoned shirt, and a leather cuff on one wrist.

I smirk when I answer, “You? Not so much.”

He punches me in the arm. “Dick.”

I look around. “Where’s Lofton?”

“He hasn’t shown up yet,” Slater says, punching me again.

We all turn when the elevator chimes and watch the doors open. I have no words when Lofton steps out. He’s shaved his head and is wearing black leather pants and a vest with no shirt. As he walks up to us, the sound of his heavy boots echoes in the large room.

“Talk about a transformation,” Kat states appreciatively.

Despite his dark makeover, Lofton blushes on hearing her compliment.

Slater snorts. “Nice hair.”

Lofton runs his hand over his smooth head. “I thought it was time for a change.”

“It’s a good look for you,” I tell him.

He gives me a half smile. “Thanks, Davis.”

Master Nosh enters the commons and announces, “Each of you will have a twenty-minute evaluation. While you wait, I suggest you come up with a statement that defines you as a Dominant. You will share it with the guests attending the graduation ceremony.”

He turns to Ravenson. “You will be first. Follow me.”

We watch in silence as he walks down the hallway with Master Nosh.

“Shit just got real,” Slater jokes.

“What does he mean by ‘a statement that defines you as a Dominant?’” Lofton asks nervously.

“I’m not sure,” I tell him.

Kat answers, “I think he’s asking for our mission statement. Like a formal statement of our goals and core values.”
