He grins. “I have a good feeling about it.” Glancing at the refrigerator, he informs me, “I went ahead and made you a bunch of meals to tide you over. Just heat and eat.”

I chuckle. “You didn’t need to do that.”

He shrugs, “Least I could do.”

“When do you head out?”

“First thing in the morning, and I’ve already scheduled a taxi so there’s no need for you to worry about it.”

I let out an exaggerated sigh. “Guess my neighbors will just have to get used to not seeing your naked ass every day.”

He smacks my arm. “I do have a surprise for you, though.”

I narrow my eyes. “What kind of surprise?”

“Wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you, now would it?”

I frown. “You know I have no patience for surprises. Just tell me.”

He grins like an idiot. “Not on your life, buddy.”

“You’re an ass.”

Anderson immediately turns around, drops his pants, and moons me with his perfectly tanned ass.

I groan loudly. “Tomorrow can’t come soon enough…”

Pulling his pants back up, he turns and smacks my arm again. “Let’s finish off the whiskey and celebrate your graduation and my first interview.”

I clasp his shoulder. I know how much I’ve come to depend on him these last few weeks. “I’d really like that.”

Although I hate to see Anderson leave, I’m happy he is stepping out on his own. With a business mind like his, there are no limits to what he can achieve.

Graduation Day

I’ve worked hard for this day, overcoming challenging obstacles, including my own self-doubt and insecurities. I know I should feel proud, but I feel an aching loss instead. I rub my chest, wishing I could wipe the unwanted feeling away.

Today we will meet with the panel for the final time, followed by a short graduation ceremony. Although we were told to invite friends, I saw no need to inconvenience anyone. I didn’t do this for the accolades.

This was the chance of a lifetime, and now I’m watching it come to a close…

I hear a knock at the door and a man calls out, “Delivery!”

I frown, knowing I haven’t ordered anything. Dressed in nothing but my sweat pants, I go to the door and open it to see a clown holding a balloon.

“Whatever it is, I don’t want it,” I assure him, certain this is Anderson’s surprise.

“Sorry, sir. I’m obligated to sing or I don’t get paid.”

I am sorely tempted to shut the door but take pity on the guy and grumble, “Fine. Go ahead.”

He takes a deep breath before he starts:

“Happy graduation day to you.

“You live like a shrew.
