Turning to face the class, she begins, “I will be your instructor for the next six weeks. You shall address me by my last name, which is Alana.”

She scans the classroom, making eye contact with each student as she continues, “As a student of this course, you represent the Training Center at all times, whether you are in class or out in the vanilla world.”

Alana’s gaze lands on the insolent man, and he shifts uncomfortably in his chair. In a cool voice, she states, “Being a Dominant is about respect. Respect for yourselfandfor others. At the Center, we will not tolerate offensive or abusive behavior. If we hear of any of our students behaving in such a way, they will be immediately cut from the program.”

She picks a piece of paper off the table and briefly glances at it before reading off the name of the man who insulted her. “Mr. Walker…” She looks him straight in the eyes when she tells him, “You have been cut from the program.”

“You can’t do that!” he snarls, banging his fist on his desk. “I spent good money on this course.”

“Your money will be refunded. The Center has no interest in training you.”

“It was just harmless flirting.” He laughs, looking around at the other students for validation. “People do it all the time, right?”

“Mr. Walker, please leave.”

Walker refuses to budge from his chair, stating begrudgingly, “You made your point.”

“You don’t seem to understand. I’m not asking you to leave, I’m telling you.”

He stares at Alana in shock, but eventually, he gets up and starts walking to the door. Looking back at the other students in the room, he grumbles, “I can’t believe I’m getting kicked out of the program by a dyke.”

Alana picks up the phone at her desk. “Mrs. Dunningham, please see that Mr. Walker is escorted out of the building.”

After hanging up the receiver, she faces us again, her demeanor calm and authoritative. “I have found over the years that sitting in on the first day of class provides me with vital information.”

I notice several of the other students glancing at each other nervously, seemingly concerned by the impression they’ve unwittingly made with their instructor. I chuckled to myself, wondering how many of them attempted to hit on her before class.

“Do you have something to say, Mr. Davis?” Alana asks me.

I meet her gaze, feeling nothing but respect for our instructor. “I’m impressed with how you handled the situation.”

She nods curtly before addressing the entire class. “We will begin by discussing the cornerstone behind every BDSM encounter—clear and concise communication. Listen carefully, because your first practicum will be directly tied to this lecture.”

Knowing that I will be scening with a submissive after this class definitely has my interest piqued…

Erotic Spanking

“Raise your hand if you are familiar with the term ‘safeword’.”

Only two of us in the class raise our hands. Ironically, it’s me…and Surfer Boy.

Alana nods. “It’s imperative as a Dominant that you establish safewords before you begin a scene with a new partner.” She pauses for a moment to emphasize the importance of her statement and allow it to sink in.

“Some of the most common safewords used are the colors red, yellow, and green to indicate comfort level. However, you and your partner can establish any unusual word or action to stop a scene immediately. Think of it as a safety net. As a Dom, you can never predict how a scene will play out, and the last thing you want is to cause harm to your partner. An established safeword allows both parties to end a scene immediately without question.”

“Why would a Dominant ever need one?” asks a distinguished man with a trimmed beard and tailored suit sitting in the back.

Alana turns to him. “Ask me that againafterI have called on you.”

He immediately apologizes before raising his hand.

“Yes, Mr. Ravenson. What was your question?”

Ravenson clears his throat, clearly embarrassed for speaking out of turn. “If a Dominant is in charge of playing out the scene they’ve created, why would they need a safeword?”

I agree with his question, having never used one myself, so I am interested in our instructor’s answer.

“Excellent question,” she compliments him. “There are several occasions when a Dominant might need to call out a safeword. One prime example would be if you found yourself questioning your sub’s ability to call out their safeword during a scene. Or, if for whatever reason, you felt your sub needed to call it but couldn’t or wouldn’t, you might call it for them.”
