I snickered slightly to myself thinking about that phrase.
On my back and in his bed,I chuckled in my mind.I should use that in my next book.
My step faltered as I stepped onto the terrace. I haven’t thought about writing another book since… since forever it seemed. I didn’t miss it nor want it since the death of my husband and child. I couldn’t even stand to read a book.
Now, I itched for it. I wanted to write and read.
I glanced around but the terrace was empty. It was fairly early so I hurried down the steps to ensure I didn't run into anyone.
As my feet hit the soft ground, wet from the morning dew, I felt a familiar calm come over me. The rhythm of my shoes on the grass and my heartbeat with each mile relaxed me. I focused on my breathing, blocking everything and everyone out. It made all my thoughts disappear, which was exactly what I needed.
Two hours later, I was back at the same spot I started, by the terrace. Lachlan was dressed, leaned casually against the stone rails, his hands in his pockets and eyes locked on the horizon, on me.
I stopped a few feet away from him, catching my breath. I ended up taking a lot longer than initially thought. But I also got sidetracked quite a few times by beautiful sights and stopped to admire them.
I came up to him. “Sorry, that took longer than I thought,” I told him, still trying to catch my breath.
“No worries,” he responded, his demeanor relaxed.
I gave him a small smile. “You have a beautiful property,” my breathing still a bit raggedy. “Technically, it is your fault I took so long. I kept getting sidetracked by the beautiful views.”
He chuckled and I liked the sound of it.
“I’ll have to show you more of it,” he replied, stepping closer to me as he bent his head to kiss me.
I returned the kiss, leaning into his body when I heard someone calling out.
“Get a room!”
I took a step back but Lachlan stepped towards me, not allowing for any distance. I glanced around a bit embarrassed. There were witnesses everywhere, heads turned our way. They didn’t even bother to pretend they weren’t looking.
“Everybody is staring,” I mumbled, his lips close to mine again.
“I don’t give a fuck,” he replied.
“I’m all sweaty,” I added.
“Again, I don’t give a fuck,” he groaned as he kissed me hard, taking my breath away.
I placed my hand on his chest and gently pushed him away.
“I’ll go take a quick shower,” my voice was breathless. He really knew how to stir me up. “If you haven’t eaten, just eat. I’ll hurry.”
He flicked his tongue behind my earlobe while his finger glided along my collarbone.
“Lachlan,” his name left my lips on a breathless whisper. If he’d ask me to get on my back right here and now, I was scared I’d totally do it. He had a way to make me forget everything but him.
“I had all your stuff moved into my room,” he commented, his voice deep. “Hurry up, I’ll wait for you.”
I blinked my eyes in confusion till my brain processed his words.
“Ok,” I murmured and I ran past him and into his castle.
