Chapter Fifteen
Iwas showered and back downstairs in twenty minutes, dressed in a pair of white jeans, green crewneck, and white chucks.
As soon as I stepped onto the terrace, Lachlan's eyes spotted me. He was seated and patted a spot next to him with a smile on his face. There were at least ten tables situated all over the terrace, with Lachlan’s guests seated enjoying their breakfast.
“You are efficient,” he leaned over to murmur into my ear and gave it a quick nib. “I love that. I love everything about you.”
A shiver ran down my spine. I couldn’t help but feel flattered and turned on. A look from this man was enough to get my panties soaked. He was taking down my walls fast. It was scary and thrilling at the same time.
Ainslee, her son, and her son’s father, I frowned trying to remember if I knew his name, entered the terrace and saw me right away. I waved at them and all three of them came up.
“Eve,” she greeted me cheerfully. “Where did you two disappear to last night?”
I blushed hard and it seemed it was all the answer she needed because she laughed hard with a knowing look in her eyes.
“Must have been a full moon last night,” she chuckled and then asked, “Can we join your table?”
“Yes, of course,” I answered quickly and looked back to Lachlan. His grey eyes were on me, ignoring everyone and everything. I nudged him slightly. “Right, Lachlan?”
“Ainslee would sit here even if I said no,” he replied.
She laughed. “Right you are, cousin.” Then she added, “Eve, not sure if you remember names of all the new people you met. This is Callen, Bram’s father. And you met Bram.”
Callen reached out his hand and we shook in greeting. “Hello, Eve.”
“Hello,” I answered and then turned to little Bram. “Nice to see you again, Bram.”
“You are not sad to see me today?” he asked with concern in his clear eyes and my heart twitched that I caused that concern.
“No,” I answered, trying to clear a choke in my throat and added, “I’m happy to see you. I was happy to see you yesterday too.”
The smile lit up his face.
“Ok, buddy,” Lachlan interrupted and asked the little boy. “Want to sit next to me?”
“Yes,” he squealed happily and pulled his hand out of his mother’s. “Can I have an egg?”
“You got it,” Lachlan told him.
Ainslee and Callen sat on my side, his hand wrapped around her chair, his body close to hers.
“You sing beautifully, Ainslee,” I complimented her, eyeing Callen’s hand and then looking back to her. I took a sip of my coffee.
She winked at me and smiled. “Thank you. Although I’m not sure how you heard me if you two were busy in the bedroom.”
I almost choked. Her eyes twinkled in humor and I could have just strangled her at that moment. I felt heat hit me, my cheeks burned from it.
Lachlan tapped me gently on the back. “All good?” he asked, just slightly concerned.
I shook my head, grabbing a glass of water. “Ainslee, you really need a filter.”
“No, I don’t dear,” she replied with a smile. “But you just admitted you were getting busy last night.”
“You’ll get used to her comments, Eve,” Lachlan and Callen spoke at the same time.
I doubt that, but I kept the thought to myself.
“How long have you been in Scotland, Eve?” Callen asked.
