26 - Buenas Noches, Mis Amores

Carmichael

Cassidy comes out of the kitchen with a tray of food balanced in her hands. Alize and I move together to relieve her of the tray. I let the female claim it so that I can claim my female.

Kissing her, I soak in her scent, now covered by the smell of roast beef. My hands travel to her ass, squeezing and caressing, lifting her dress just a bit so I can snake my hands up and touch bare flesh.

"Some of us would like to eat without that image," Devel says in my ear.

I lift my head from Cassidy and growl slightly at him. Killjoy. Worse, he'll probably nark to his big brother that I was feeling up his 'pup.'

I only release Cassidy when my eyes meet Mattie's. The hurt in his expression strikes my wolf and me hard.Chale, how can I do this? I feel like apendejo. Both of my mates are hurting, and I'm the problem, aren't I?

My alpha-wolf growls low. He isn't the problem. Take his mates into the desert, fuck and knot them until his scent is saturated into their pores. Feed them the best meat. Find the best den. He thinks his teeth and dick will solve everything.

"There are other trays-" Cassidy begins to explain in her soft, sweet voice. I wrap my arm back around her instinctively. There's no reason for Cassidy to work any harder. I allowed her to cook for us because the rest of us simply can't, and I know she enjoys it. There's no fucking way I'll let her serve, too.

Rique and Devel move into the kitchen, followed closely by Adriana and Miranda. They bring the trays out as others push two tables together. Just moments later, we have a family-style buffet table set up.

I grab Mattie's hand when he tries to sneak past me to the kitchen. Keeping Cassidy under one arm, I pull him to my other side. My wolf makes a sound of contentment. I kiss the side of my male's head. Some of the sorrow leaves him, and I breathe a sigh of relief.

I watch my pack grab their plates and drinks, chatting animatedly with each other. Laughing, happy, well-fed, sharing. When was the last time LoboGris saw a scene like this?

I can't even remember one time. Not once.

The thought is so disturbing that I let my mates go, patting them both on their sexy little asses and pushing them gently toward the buffet. "Go eat," I order.

Adriana sidles up next to me when my mates leave. "This is nice, isn't it?"

"Si."

"They're really special, Carm," she says with too much familiarity. She rolls her eyes at my growl. "How will you bring back CassieandMattie to the pack?"

"I have a plan," I tell her. It's all I'll say to her.

She looks at me, pale. "You're going to Challengesu padre," she breathes.

I shrug, reluctant to share any information with her. Her mate, Miguel, still lives in LoboGris and fucks my sister on the side. Adriana may be estranged from him, but I can't guarantee she won't spill secrets to her mate.

She nods, her jaw set. Her eyes travel to the table, where my pack allows my mates to choose their food first. Alize is hovering at Cassidy's back, and Rique keeps tossing olives onto Mattie's plate as my male tries to avoid them. Miranda bats her mate's arm, taking Mattie's plate and pushing it at Rique so that my male can make a new one. The look on my Beta's face at the sight of the salad and beans on Mattie's plate is priceless.

Grinning, I saunter over. "Eat your grass, ojetes," I whisper in Rique's ear.

"En chinga, cabrón."He pops an olive in his mouth and grimaces with disgust, but he chews and swallows. We've had lean years in LoboGris. We'll eat anything, no matter how disgusting.

I make my plate, making sure to pile it high with roast beef and a few potatoes as I silently laugh at Rique. He is adding roast beef to the top of his salad, but it's still lettuce.

When we all sit, Rique leaves a space empty on my left, where he usually sits. I place my plate on the table, Cassidy sitting on my right, talking with Alize about cooking temperatures. Mattie starts to slink to the other side of the table.

"Nene," I call for him. His head darts up, caramel eyes hurting and confused. "Aquí," I pat the chair next to me.

He sits, and I pull his chair so that he is pressed next to me. "This is your place,no?" I murmur against the side of his head.

"OK," he whispers.

I dig in and almost choke in shock.Diosa, I've never tasted roast beef this delicious. It's unbelievable. I should have bought bigger plates for this place. Silence reigns over the table as we eat like wolves, demolishing the meal in front of us. Rique finishes and eats a second plate before he slows down on his third to Miranda's wide-eyed smile. I grab a second plate, too, this time going so far as to try some of Cassidy's veggies.

Conversation finally picks back up, a sense of relief from the wolves at the table striking my wolf hard. There's still food left. LoboGris won't ever starve again. Not when I'm alpha.
