“Enough that I feel good, but not enough to be hungover in the morning.”
He reaches out and brushes his thumb along my bottom lip. “I’d love nothing more than to take care of you, but I won’t take advantage of you, while you’ve been drinking.” He says.
I shrug, “Okay, just know that I will be taking care of myself tonight.”
He groans. “Know I will be cumming multiple times tonight, thinking of you lying in your bed, taking care of yourself.”
He kisses my cheek, and then is gone, closing the door behind him.
Damn. Tonight, just got much more exciting.
Chapter 15
Brynn
When Lin and I were kids, we used to play wedding day, just like any young girl would. My mom would let us use her white sheets and make these crazy wedding dresses, and later, we’d use old Halloween costumes.
We’d drag in any boy we could to play our groom. Mostly, it ended up being Jasper and Lin’s ex, Travis, back when we were no more than eight or nine.
Then, one day, when we were teens, we snuck into her mom’s closet and got out her wedding dress and tried it on. I remember thinking about how much like a bride Lin looked, and how beautiful she was. Of course, her mom found out, and we got in trouble for going into her closet, but not for trying on the dress.
Today, with Lin standing in front of me in her wedding dress, all I can think about is that day she wore her mom’s wedding dress. The dress is so similar, but has some twists that are all Lin, like the sparkle belt she added on.
Everyone came together to make this day special for her, and in record time too, thanks to Jasper’s mom. We’re getting ready in my room at Sunset, and I just finished buttoning Lin into her dress. With her hair and makeup done, I get the full effect and lose my battle of trying not to cry.
Thankfully, we went with waterproof mascara.
“Okay, guests are starting to arrive and being seated, the weather is gorgeous, and Nate and his guys have the road blocked off, so only guests and locals can get anywhere near here. He even has guys patrolling the beach. There are a few boats in the water, so I guess if they had the fancy lens things, they might get some photos.” Mrs. Adams says.
We open the bathroom door to a chorus of praise, and how pretty she looks.
“Besides, if they try to get photos from the water, they won’t get good ones with the sheer curtains you put up on the arch and the decorations, which was good thinking on your part.” Lin reminds her.
“That’s true.” Mrs. Adams straightens her back and smiles.
“Well, any last-minute details? My husband texted that Kade is pacing the room and driving everyone nuts.” Kade’s mom laughs.
“Can I have just a minute with her?” I ask.
Everyone nods and heads out to take their spots.
“Okay, this should be your mom doing this, and I know I’m a shitty substitute, and I don’t want to make you cry, but here goes nothing,” I say, as tears already fill both our eyes.
I walk over to my dresser, and with shaking hands, pull out the little box I had been saving for this day.
“The last date I had with Jasper, before he went to New York, was a special one. Your mom had me convinced he was going to propose. She had me dress up and let me borrow this.” I hand her the box.
“I forgot to return it, and the well, you know, and then, I saw it as I was moving out of the house. I swear I heard your mom standing there whispering to save it for you for this day.” I tell her.
Her hands shake as badly as mine, when she removes the necklace from the box.
“I’ve never seen this one before.” She says.
“She told me she wore it the day your dad proposed. She said he gave it to her, when they graduated high school, and she wore it the day she was married as well. It was good luck, and I should wear it, too. When I checked the photos, sure enough, she was wearing this necklace. So, I decided to hold on to it and wait.”
I barely get my words out, before Lin is launching herself at me and wrapping me up in the biggest hug. It’s hard to breathe, but I don’t say anything, as I just hug her back as hard.
“I love you, Brynn. You have always been family, and now, our family is growing, I promise to give you plenty of nieces and nephews to spoil the hell out of. We will grow our family and never be alone again.” She whispers in my ear.
