“Um, nothing,” I muttered, stabbing a piece of broccoli with my fork.
“So, as the Goddess of Innocence, you can lie, yet others can’t lie to you?” His lip curled while his finger ran circles on my inner thigh.
“I…” I stuttered, not wanting to tell him I wanted him to get rid of the tingles.
I wasn’t ready for his sausage to go in the donut.
Luci let out a deep chuckle at the table, causing everyone to glance at us. Ember smiled, all too knowingly of what was probably going on.
“Luci, leave her alone,” she chided, putting another piece of bloody steak in her mouth. “She’s had a strenuous day with those lessons and then hearing you are her mate. You still need to take it slow with each other as you control your emotions. You are both all over the place.” She laid her head on Hades’ shoulder, who only looked at her adoringly.
“Leave them be,” Hades muttered to Ember, drinking some of the red drink on the table. “Everything will work out in their favor. I’m sure of it.” He winked at me, and I looked away, biting my lip.
I kept my thoughts away from any more kissing and wonderful thoughts of Luci helping me with my problem. The other question I had was, does Luci ever have a problem?
His sausage was huge in his pants when I straddled him earlier. Does he get tingles there too?
Loki grabbed my hand as soon as he saw Luci finished dinner, begging me to tuck him in and finish reading our story, the Little Prince. I smiled cheerfully, telling him, “I would love to help.” But Luci growled at him.
“She’s my mate, not your nanny,” Luci hissed. My arms wrapped behind his back as he stared down at Loki. Loki’s mischievous spirit completely died, and he looked to the floor in defeat.
“Luci?” I pulled on the sleeve of his third shirt of the day. His mother made him wear it at dinner.
I didn’t like it when Luci wore a shirt.
“Can I please read him a story? You can come too,” I fluttered my lashes, tenting my hands together like a brief prayer.
“Actually,” Hades interrupted, “I need to see you, Lucifer, in my office.” Both of their eyes glazed over, until Luci sighed, exasperated, shaking his head.
“Fine,” he grunted before turning to me. “You do not leave Loki’s room until I come to fetch you. Do you understand?” I hummed in response. Luci’s hand tightened on my chin. The slight pressure had me feeling the burn down to my toes.
“Yes, sir,” I joked until he let go, groaning with a twinkle in his eye.
“From now on, respond with that,” his lips hovered over mine. He stayed there, waiting for a response.
Eager to please him, I smiled and whispered, “Yes, sir.”
Luci hummed, petting my cheek with his other hand. “What a good girl, bunny. You make me so proud.” The tingles rushed through my chin and straight between my lady parts. I balled my fists up by my side trying to calm my excitement.
I’m his good girl again!
He placed a quick peck on my lips and walked away, only to look back before he rounded the corner with his dad. I turned back around to Loki, whose mouth hung open with his head tilted like a puppy.
“Uriel, what the he—I mean heck has happened in the twelve hours I was gone?”
“What do you mean?” I asked innocently.
Loki shook his head, running his hand down his face. “Sure, you found out you are mates but… the way you… it’s just…” His hands pointed in various directions: one at me and the other at an invisible Luci by my side. “Just keep it down when you guys start doing ‘stuff.’ I am literally right next door.” He turned his back, waving me to follow him down the hallway.
Doing what stuff?
We trailed to Loki’s room. He went to the bathroom to shower, and I continued to tidy his room.
Even if I was Luci’s mate and, technically, not the nanny anymore, I was going to still help and do my part. I liked Loki. I enjoyed hanging out with him. Maybe Luci would be more amenable if we all hung out together, and I did not split my time with each of them individually.
Loki, even if he is the God of Mischief, was hurting on the inside. He needed a friend, a close friend, and he technically is my first friend since leaving Mom and Dad’s. I couldn’t just abandon him like that.Picking up the remaining clothing from the floor, a knock on the bedroom door caught my attention. It was already open, ready for anyone to walk in.
“Uriel,” the demon Alana spoke as she entered. The click of her shoes on the dark wood floors had me aching to cover my ears.
