“I keep nothing from my woman. She knows.” I watch as Killian’s eyes move to Bella’s, and I see the love in his eyes he has for her. Giving her a smile, he looks back down to me and then places a kiss on the top of my head before moving to the other side of Bella and taking a seat.
Over the next fifteen minutes, the rest of the family turn up, including his mother and sister. They all greet me as if they have known me forever, as if I belong here, and I feel so grateful that they have been so welcoming, but I’m still an outsider here.
I sit listening to them all chat together, and I feel a little awkward. When the oven dings to let us know the meat is done, I jump up before Finn gets a chance, giving him a small smile. “I’ll take care of the dinner, and you can sit with your family and chat.”
The room goes quiet, and I can feel every eye on me. I’m not sure what I did, but I feel like I’m about to panic when Killian speaks up. “We’re your family too, lass. Why don’t you let me and my little brother sort dinner and you come sit down and chat?”
He gets up from his chair before taking my hand and leading back to the others. I quickly glance over at Finn, who gives me a wink and smile.
The moment I take a seat, Maddie climbs off Ronan’s lap and onto mine, wrapping her arms around my neck as she whispers into my ear, “I’ll take care of you, Aunt Cara.” Then she kisses me on the cheek.
I swallow a lump in my throat as I look up and see Ronan watching us. He gives me a smile and a quick nod of the head, and then he sits back and just listens to the conversation going on around him.
Within minutes, I’m pulled into the conversation with everyone asking me little things about myself, but not prying.
Finn and Killian take a seat at the table after bringing the dinner over, and as we all tuck in, I’m left wondering why Seamus isn’t here and if something is wrong or if Finn just didn’t invite him…
Chapter 20
Although Cara joined in the conversations that were going around, she was still pretty quiet, and I’m starting to get worried.
When she excuses herself to go to the toilet, I get up to follow her. Ma gives me a look, as if to say stay put, but I just shake my head. She knows me, and she knows I need to ensure I have control.
I push her back into the bathroom the moment she opens the door to come out. She squeaks in surprise as I kick the door shut with my foot. I spin her and pin her against the door, one hand next to her head and the other on her hip.
“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours, princess?”
“I’m worried about Seamus. Why is he not here? Was he invited?”
There’s a bite of attitude in her question, and it pisses me off a little. I place a gentle kiss on her forehead then pull back, my hand moving down her thigh and under her dress. I let my fingers gently graze her thigh as I move my hand higher.
Watching her reaction as I slide two fingers into her pussy, she sucks in a small breath, and I groan when I realise how wet she already is. Fuck, this woman is killing me.
“Of course he was invited. I don’t know where he is. I don’t like you thinking I would invite my family and not yours.”
Her nails dig into my biceps as I thrust my fingers in and out of her, placing my thumb on her clit and moving it in small circles, adding just a hint of pressure. I can feel her orgasm building, and her eyes flicker shut. “Open your eyes, princess.”
Fixing her eyes on mine, I see the desire in them. She’s just as fucking needy as I am.
Right as she is on the brink, I yank my fingers from her pussy and run them across her lips before slamming my lips onto hers. My hand wraps around the front of her neck, and I give a gentle squeeze as I give her a bruising kiss, then as quickly as I started, I stop, taking a step back away from her.
“Finn, please, I need to come…”
I shake my head. “Nope.” I pull her away from the door and turn her to lead her out, giving her a hard smack across her arse just before I open the door.
She lets out a squeak of surprise as I pull her back to me, whispering in her ear, “You’ll come when I say you can come. Don’t ever doubt me again.”
Her steps falter at my comment, but I grab her hand and lead her back into the dining room to continue our dinner.
Halfway through dinner, the doorbell goes, and I get up to answer it. Cara has barely looked at me since the we had that moment in the bathroom and I’m starting to wonder if I’ve pushed her too far.
Relief washes over me the second I open the door and find Seamus standing there. I would never have admitted it to anyone, but I was so worried about him, and when Cara admitted that’s what had been on her mind, my heart sunk.
“Where the fuck have you been? You’re nearly an hour late,” I whisper yell, opening the door wider to let him in.
Before he has a chance to respond, or get further into the house, I push him into my office.
“Jesus, Finn, will you chill? Da came to the hotel to talk to me. I couldn’t very well tell him I was late for dinner with Cara and you lot now, could I?”
