He swallows.

“So, really, there’s no reason to hold back,” I whisper and open my legs wider. There’s nothing stopping us taking it as far as I wanted to all those months ago. Jerry knows my past, the things that haunt me. He’s been there for me, steadfast, when I needed him the most.

“Jesus.” He breathes against my lips. “What’re you sayin’, Liv?”

“I want you. Touch me. Hold me. I’m yours.”

“There’s nothin’ in this world I want more.” He slams his mouth on mine. The moan in his throat causes my heart to pound in celebration. Finally. We can be together.

Jerry’s slips his hand beneath my skirt and slides his fingers against the soft cotton now drenched. “Damn.” He breathes. “So wet.”

I buck as his fingers probe at the fabric. A deep moan falls from my lips as he slides a finger inside my folds. Gripping his shoulders, I kiss him with abandon as he thrusts inside, his thumb rubbing my clit in a frenzy.

“I want you now.” I don’t care that we’re in a dusty old shed, all I want is him. I can’t wait any longer. “Please.” I unhitch his belt buckle.

He hisses. “I’m clean.” He eases his finger in and out of me, stretching me further as he adds another digit. “There’s been no one since I met you.”

Even after I dumped him the way I did?I wouldn’t have blamed him if he’d been with another woman.

The ache for more deepens as his stubble brushes against my neck and my wetness coats his fingers. My brain freezes at the thought of Jerry inside me. Will having sex somehow harm the baby? It sounds pathetic inside my own head. Pregnant women have sex all the time, don’t they?

Jerry withdraws his fingers and leans his forehead against mine. “Are you okay? Want me to stop?”

No. Yes. Maybe.

“It’s just, the baby. I haven’t...”

His knowing smile tells me I don’t have to say out aloud,“I haven’t had sex since I got pregnant”.

“Just because you’re pregnant, doesn’t mean you can’t have what you crave, that you can’t feel good.”

“You make me want so many things.” I breathe.

“Let’s take this inside,” he says, his voice thick. “Gonna do this right. Take my time.”

My head swirls. “Yes,” I whimper and bite at his pillowy lips as I wrap my arms and legs around him.

“There you are,” a man’s voice booms. “Oh.”

Finn’s tall, muscled frame fills the doorway.Oh crap. He smiles as bright as the midday sun and folds his arms across his chest.

Busted.

The blinding heat between us fizzles out, Finn’s presence like a cold shower.

“Didn’t wanna knock?” Jerry guides me from the bench onto my feet, shielding me with his back to his brother. He discreetly adjusts the front of his jeans, buckles his belt, and turns. Jerry is cool and casual, as if we weren’t about to get it on.

Finn shrugs. “Door was wedged wide open. Besides, you told me to come over today.”

I bite down on my lip to stop myself from giggling. It’s typical to be interrupted now. What does the universe have against us being together? I adjust my skirt and shift my thoughts from how close I was to having Jerry inside me.

Jerry grips my hand tight in his. With a mega-watt smile, he leads me over to his brother.

“Hey, Finn,” I say in a quiet voice, suddenly shy.

He winks. “Hey, Liv.”

“I’ve got news, brother,” Jerry says and pulls back his shoulders.
