Luther cocked his head to the side, eying her with curiosity.

She tried not to squirm under the intensity of his gaze and instead rolled her shoulders back and sat up straighter. "What?" She barked.

Luther shook his head slightly, like he was coming out of a daze and narrowed his eyes. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, handing it back to her with one of his signature grunts.

She snatched it quickly before he changed his mind, being careful not to touch him. Her brain went on the fritz whenever she touched his skin and she needed to keep her wits.

Without an ounce of hesitation Zamorra jumped online and purchased all eight seasons of Game of Thrones as well as Man of Steel, her favourite Superman film. Was it her favourite because Henry Cavill was the star? Yes. Yes, it was.

It required Face ID before the transaction could go through, so she spun the phone quickly to face Luther. The phone dinged, signalling a successful purchase and she smiled. She chucked the phone back and Luther caught it one handed.

"There ya go. It'll be here in three to five business days." Yeah, she could have just bought an online version, but Zamorra always loved to collect movies and TV shows, the proper way.

Before Cade had barrelled into her life, forcing her to ditch everything she owned and run, she had a massive collection of them, spanning two whole walls from top to bottom.

A small part of her wanted to go to her old apartment and see if she could get any of her belongings. But she knew there wouldn't be a point. Her landlord hated her, and she would bet a million buckaroonies that that asshole got rid of all her crap the second she missed the first rental payment.

"What will be here in three days?" Luther looked at the phone and his forehead furrowed. "You expect me to watch all this?"

"Yep." Zamorra said cheerfully, popping the 'p'. "We're gonna have a GOT Marathon and it's gonna be awesome. Even though they completely botched the last season, it's still good." She couldn't help but laugh at the look of unease that crossed his face as he tucked the phone back away.

It was actually kinda nice to have a proper conversation with him, one where he actually spoke to her instead of just grunting and growling all the time.

As much as she would have liked to keep the good vibes flowing between them, she needed an explanation about his behaviour over the last few days. She deserved a better excuse than 'that's none of your business.'

Zamorra folded her hands in her lap and took a deep breath. She knew that if she came at this aggressively, it was just going to result in the same outcome. Her and Luther going at it, and not in the good way.

She locked eyes with him and cleared her throat. "Can you tell me why you've been acting-" she quickly slammed her mouth shut, wincing. She was about to say, 'like a dickhead' but that definitely would have been confrontational "-weird the last few days?" She finished. Yeah, that didn't sound as bad.

Luther gave her a level stare. "You're not going to let this go, are you?"

"No," Zamorra replied quickly, keeping her eyes locked with his. She wouldn't back down, it wasn't in her nature.

Luther sighed and leaned back, hands slowly moving to undo the black silk tie wrapped around his neck. He slid it off in one smooth move, folding it over the arm of the chair without taking his eyes off her. "I made a mistake when I took you to DeVos."

She pulled back, giving him an odd look. "Okay?" She wasn't sure what that had to do with her question.

"Leilani wasn't supposed to be in town that night. If I had of known she was here, I wouldn't have done something so reckless. She's always had a very cruel and jealous streak, something that unfortunately just got worse and worse over time. I knew that after seeing us together she would be furious and feel threatened by you-"

"Because I'm a shifter?"

"Because you're beautiful."

Her eyes darted to his in surprise, a warm fuzzy feeling filling her chest and making her skin flush. She tried to shake it off, not make it obvious his words sent a thrill straight to her core, but she had a feeling she wasn't as smooth as she hoped.

"Uhm, thanks. So are you." She immediately winced. Gosh darn it. Did she constantly have to blurt the first thing that popped into her damn head?

Luther smirked. "Why thank you, Little Alpha." The heat in his eyes made her pulse thump loudly and her heart rate kicked up several notches.

He was looking at her like he wanted to ravish her, and it made it hard for her to think. Everything he did made it hard for her to fucking think.

"Anyway." Zamorra cleared her throat and waved a hand through the air. "You were saying."

His dark eyes did a quick sweep of her body, a dash of red flickering through his irises before he continued. "Over the last few days, I've come to suspect she may have a spy in my inner circle. Someone who has been reporting my movements and telling her confidential information about House affairs. I haven't been able to find out who yet, but I will."

The savagery in that last sentence made it very clear that he planned to punish this person as soon as he found out who they were. Zamorra felt a little sorry for them. An angry Luther was a scary thing to behold.

"Your inner circle, as in-"
