"D! Thank God you're here. You wanna go for a run or something? Or a hunt? Let's go hunting."

"No can do, my man. I was actually already on the hunt... for you," he said, pointing to Zamorra. "You were taking too long to come back so I was just about to head out to look for you. Boss Man is losing his shit."

She arched an eyebrow. "About what?"

"Who the hell knows. But he's calmer when you're around. Not as murdery."

Zamorra frowned. She wasn't sure about that.

Darius looked over her shoulder and put his fingers in between his lips, blowing a loud, ear-piercing whistle. Maddox blurred to their side half a second later, covering the distance from the main gate to the front porch in an instant.

"Were you tailing us?" She scowled.

"Not you." His green eyes flicked to Void, and he shrugged his shoulders. "Sorry, Luther's orders."

Darius reached forward and grabbed her hand, pulling her inside. "Come on Z, hopefully with you around he'll chill the fuck out. You too, Vatali. You're coming with."

Void scoffed. "I'm not stepping foot in there."

"Don't got a choice, big boy. Luther needs us in the tech room, which means you're along for the ride."

Void looked around, pursing his lips. He reached out to a vampire that was standing guard at the door, gripping him by the shoulder and pulling him to his side. The vampire yelped in surprise but didn't try to fight him. He was a freshie - someone who had only recently been turned, therefore he was at the bottom of the food chain. The weakest he would ever be in his vampire life. He knew better than to fight a shifter.

"Why can't this guy watch me?"

Darius gave him a blank look. "We all know a Tyro is no match for you."

"Tyro?" Zamorra asked, frowning.

"Rookie, cadet, new kid on the block, whatever you wanna call ‘em." Darius bopped his head to the side. "Back in position, Tyro!" He barked.

Relief washed over the vampire as he took his position back at the door, feet shoulder width apart and hands clasped behind his back.

"Hurry up. The longer we keep him waiting the worse it'll be," Darius said, ushering them into the house.

"Like I care," Void grumbled, stepping inside.

Margaret snuck up behind Void and slapped him on the ass, making him yelp. "Until next time, you spicy meatball," she whispered seductively and blurred away.

Void pinned Zamorra with his gaze. "You need to do something!" He hissed and all Zamorra could do was smile. This was just waaaaay too much fun.

Darius led them through the house and straight to the Elite Wing. This was the first time she had ever stepped foot in this area of the house before. Oh, she had been tempted to sneak in and have a little peek, but considering the tenuous relationship she currently had with the vampires, she thought better of it.

The Elite Wing housed a room for each of the guards, their own lounge and dining area, a state of the art gymnasium and training room, as well as a gaming room. She wished she had the time to check out those last few while she was here. Maybe she could ask Darius for a proper tour later.

They stopped in front of a steel door and Darius raised his hand, knocking three times. It swung open, revealing a room filled with an unbelievable amount of technology. Monitors sprung from the walls and hung down from the ceiling spread all throughout the room, far too many for her to count. All of them displayed something different, some looked to be camera feeds from different areas in the city, others were playing movies and TV series. She saw glimpses of Breaking Bad, The Mummy, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

Man, she hadn't seen that movie since she was a kid.

Lines and lines of cables intertwined between the empty spaces surrounding the monitors like a spider's web, currents of electricity flowing through them and powering everything in the room. In the middle of it all on a raised platform sat Axel, headset on his head, his chair gliding across the floor as he moved from screen to screen, typing on different keyboards.

Luther stood with his back to her, Roman and Ophelia at his side as per usual. He raised a hand and beckoned them forward with two fingers without turning around.

Maddox and Darius blurred to him immediately while she and Void walked slowly, eyeing the room with curiosity.

Luther's eyes snapped to her when she stepped up onto the platform, his face unreadable. She noticed the slight tick in his jaw before he turned away and looked back at the monitors.

She's not gonna lie, it made her angry. That was the most she could get out of him over the past few days, and she had no clue what she had done to warrant this type of behaviour from him. Maybe after hearing her story, he was no longer interested.
