“I understand this is a big ask,” I said. “One that I wouldn’t expect a decision on immediately, but time is of the essence, so the sooner you could provide me with one would be better.”
“Yes, I understand,” she said and fell silent for several moments. “Very well. If Toni is willing to perform the ritual, you have my blessing.”
“Thank you, High Priestess,” I said and turned to Toni.
She smiled. “I have to have eleven sisters to join us. Ten if you are included. Everyone has to agree to participate and accept the risk involved.”
I nodded. “I understand. You have ten to gather.”
She smiled. “Let’s get started with the sisters.”
“Blessed be, my daughters,” High Priestess Raven said.
“Blessed be,” we said in unison and then excused ourselves to hunt down ten sisters.
One by one, we shared what was needed. Some agreed, some didn’t. But I was relieved when we had gathered our ten. It was a close call. But the last sister had a personal stake in the ritual. Her biological sister was taken by the group.
“I have my eleven sisters,” Toni said, “Now I need something else from you.”
“Anything,” I said.
“I need something of Avery’s. It has to be something personal. The stronger the connection to the item, the better the spell will work,” she said.
“You got it,” I said. “I’ll let you know when I have it.”
She nodded and gave me another hug. “Be safe.”
I left the coven house and thought about how in the world I was going to find something of Avery’s she had a close connection to. Finding something that had her energy on it was going to be hard enough. Especially considering her apartment was somehow wiped clean of everything that had her energetic signature on it. But when there was a will, there was a way. Maybe Noah could help me with it.
Either way, I was going to have to revisit Avery’s apartment. Considering how well visiting her place worked out for me the last time, I wasn’t exactly going in with high expectations.
But first, I had to catch the men up on everything.

I was beginning to wonder if Savannah was ever going to come out of the damned house when her car appeared in the driveway heading toward the gate.
“Finally,” I muttered under my breath and started up my engine.
Noah sat in the back seat, dozing quietly for much of the time Savannah was talking with her coven. It was the most silence I had since he walked into my life, and I was grateful for the reprieve. But the second my engine revved, he woke up.
“Is she out?” he asked, stretching in the back seat and scratching his head.
I nodded. “Yes.”
“Finally,” he muttered and readjusted himself in his seat.
Liam was parked in the car behind me. And once Savannah pulled out, I drove behind her, and Liam took up the tail. I was only somewhat happy he had paid attention. Because part of me wanted to leave him behind if he didn’t. My little way of getting back at him for sleeping with Savannah.
Call me petty, but I wasn’t above payback in any way possible. Never mind she didn’t belong to me. But Liam knew exactly how I felt about her. So, I also felt the nasty sting of betrayal.
Less than an hour later, we pulled into the parking lot of the motel I had secured for Noah. And once we were all inside his room, Savannah filled us in on what happened at her coven. She sat on the foot of the bed. Noah lay sprawled out over the mattress and had a satisfactory smirk on his face.
His expression only worked to confirm what I was already well aware of. He was going to do everything in his power to steal her from me.
I was surrounded by cut-throats and betrayers.
