“First off, I apologize for my visit taking so long, I’m sure you all were wondering if I was ever going to come out,” she started, she leaned against the wall, next to the television, while I and Liam sat at the table and Noah laid sprawled out on the bed.
“I wasn’t,” Noah said.
“That’s because you were too busy snoring to care about the time.” I frowned at him.
“That’s where you’re wrong, my friend,” Noah said. “I don’t snore.”
“Yeah okay,” I said through a snort and then returned my attention to Savannah. “We’re you able to talk to your coven sister?”
She settled her gaze on me. “Yes. She’ll do it, along with a few of our other coven sisters. I also promised to help. But she needs something that belongs to Avery.”
“That sounds simple enough,” Liam said. He sat at the table next to me. “Should be a quick in and out thing.”
He was uncomfortably close. It wouldn’t take much for me to reach across the table and knock a few of his teeth out. And it took everything in me not to. The decision he had made recently really tarnished my impression of him
I wasn’t sure if he would ever make up for what he did.
Savannah shook her head. “Not necessarily. The item has to be something important. An item of value. Her connection to the item has to be strong in order for us to pull this off.”
“Any ideas on what such an item would be?” Liam asked Noah.
“I’m not sure how to help with this one,” Noah said. “If you give me some time, I can try to think of something.”
He fell into his thoughts, which I hoped meant I would hear very little coming from him. The guy was more annoying than anything else, and I really struggled to see what Savannah had seen in him.
I meant what I said when I called him a lapse in judgment. She could do so much better than him.
“That is the only way she can do the spell. The stronger the connection to the item, the better. So, I need to head to Avery’s place again, see what I can find.”
“Will that work?” Liam asked Savannah. “Considering the state of things we found them in, it would be difficult to find something with that much energy.”
Savannah shrugged. “I’m not sure. With everything being wiped clean of her energy, I’m not hopeful, but we have to at least try. We’re running out of time to find her, and I am still against using Noah as bait.”
“I knew you cared,” he said with a cheesy grin.
I stood from the chair and nodded. “I’ll go with you.”
“That is not a good idea,” she said.
“I don’t care if you think it’s a good idea or not,” I said. “I’m still coming with you.”
She scoffed. Liam stood from his seat and took a stand in between us as the air suddenly turned static.
“I will not be chaperoned everywhere I go,” Savannah said and stood straighter. “And who the hell do you think you are demanding you go with me?”
“Your partner,” I said. “Wherever you go, I go. And I thought we made ourselves pretty clear last night, lest you have forgotten.”
“Unbelievable,” she said. “You’re only concerned I’m going to end up in bed with someone else more than my safety.”
I shrugged. “Maybe, maybe not. I said what I said.”
She was angry. And understandably so. But I refused to let anything happen to her. Sure, I was upset about her sleeping with Liam. It should have been me. Not that I was going to come out and say as much to her face. Not yet, at least. The simple fact was, the group almost killed her, and I was going to make damn sure their next attempt failed as well.
I was certain they were going to try again.
“If I might interrupt,” Noah said. “I think I might have something in regards to an item of my sister’s.”
“Please do,” Savannah said gesturing for Noah to continue. She let her hand fall to her tantalizing, thick thigh with a slap.
