He nodded. “One and the same.”

“What about it?” I asked shocked my hair didn’t have more damage to my locks than I had.

“It apparently didn’t really happen,” he said as he finally picked a t-shirt. A black one.

I quirked an eyebrow. “What do you mean, it didn’t happen?”

He shook his head. “I wish I could explain it to you, but nothing was burned. Once you passed out, and the other two showed up, I told them about the fire and there was none. It was as if the whole thing was an illusion.”

“But the glass broke,” I said.

He nodded. “Yup, and that was still the case.”

“That’s not… How?” I asked.

“You’re the witch in this dynamic duo,” he said. “I thought you would be able to tell me.”

“I’m as lost as you. I can’t think of anything that would have that result. Illusions don’t work like that,” I said and then took another sip of my coffee.

Jacob headed to his nightstand and picked up his phone. He sent a text message and then slid the thing into his pocket. “Get dressed, Liam and Noah will be here soon.”

“Sure,” I muttred. “Can’t be a party until they show up.”

He laughed as I started pulling my clothes back on.

Less than twenty minutes later, there was a knock at Jacob’s door. He stood from the couch and went to see who had arrived. Of course, I already had a sinking suspicion. Seconds later, I learned I was right.

Liam and Noah stepped into the room. Both of them had similar expressions on their faces. Forlorn, worrisome, and jealous.

Great. My sex life was on display. Because I was sure they were already aware of the sex we had.

“Well, it’s about time you two showed up,” I said trying to detract from the obvious.

“Now the fun can begin,” Noah said, but his voice lacked all humor.

“What happened?” I asked.

Liam took a seat on the opposite end of the sofa, Jacob took the middle seat, Noah took the chair, of course, and I was situated on the same end of the sofa I had been on since walking out of Jacob’s bedroom.

“First,” Liam started, “how are you doing?”

I nodded. “Better than I was.”

“Good,” he said with a nod.

“I tried to find the heirloom, but it wasn’t there.” Noah shook his head. “It should have been in the same place she always kept it. It’s just gone.”

I frowned. “Guess I will be returning to Toni empty-handed.”

“I’m sorry Sav—Savannah,” Noah said. “Really. I tried.”

I appreciated that he didn’t use his awful nickname for me, but that also struck me as odd. I wondered what else happened while I was out.

“The trip wasn’t a total loss though,” Liam added.

For the next half an hour, Liam and Noah explained what happened in Avery’s apartment. From the hint of a fire in the air to the dragon’s fire possibility, and the one thing we had been waiting for this entire time… an answer as to why Noah’s sister was kidnapped in the first place.

“Did you find anything at Savannah’s?” Liam asked Jacob.
