I turned to him. “Huh?”
“You don’t know what small words likenot approvedmeans.”
“I didn’t even know who the fuck Aaron was until he walked up on me,” I snapped.
He took my cup from my hand and passed it under his nose.
“Liquid courage. My favorite characteristic of yours.”
I snatched my cup back from him. “I bet.”
“Follow me,” he commanded and walked down the hall.
In his back pocket, I noticed the handle of a paddle sticking out.
“What is that in your back pocket?”
He didn’t answer.
“What are you going to do with that, Diesel? Answer me.”
When he turned left instead of right, I knew he was taking me to that room, and I immediately started to explain myself to his back.
“But I didn’t even know his name until he introduced himself!”
“And after he introduced himself?”
“He came over to me at the drink table, and… how do you even know that to begin with?”
“I know everything, Ms. Greysen.”
“What was I supposed to say when he approached me at the table? ‘Hi. My Master Diesel Danger says that you are not on his approved list, so I can’t talk to you.’”
He turned and looked at me, making me stop in my tracks. “Sure. He knows my name.”
He continued toward the room.
“Everyone knows who the fuck you are, huh?”
“Excuse me?”
“Just like you’re angry that I talked to someone on your not approved list, how do you think I feel that I had to listen to one of your cult members talk about howdecentof a man you were to her; trips overseas and what not. Ugh. Almost lost the contents of my stomach.”
His eyebrows raised.
“Sutton.”
He twisted his lips in a confused manner before smirking. “Oh. Sutton,” he said like he had a fond memory of her.
I wanted to knock that fucking smirk right off his face.
“You have a tab at Columbia too? That’s embarrassing.”
He puffed his blunt. “How so? I’mdecentto you too, no?”
I rolled my eyes to the ceiling.
“You’re just about to do that stupid wordplay shit that you do just to piss me off and I’m not gonna let you do it.”
