Emilia

We madeit to the bar twenty minutes later, and went straight to the door, skipping the line. I didn’t think I had ever seen a line for a bar before, but Evelyn told me before we left that this bar had just opened, and it was the talk of the city.

We were able to skip the line because Jace and Jensen were friends with the owner, and he had given our names to the bouncer earlier.

I looked around, humming my approval. It was a nice place. Though it was more crowded than I would have preferred, I like the aesthetic of it, the music and most of all, the anonymity.

I wasn’t Emilia the cripple here, even if it was easy to see I didn’t have my leg.

I was just another person, hanging out with her friend group and looking for a good time.

Jensen squeezed my hand just as we crossed through the door and entered the dim, loud bar, and I looked at him. He leaned down so I could hear him over the loud music inside. “You look beautiful. Did I tell you that?”

“Only a couple of times,” I said cheekily.

He smiled. “Well, you do. I fucking love your dress.”

“Yeah?” I asked, looking down at the shirt hem. “You don’t think it’s too short?”

“Fuck, baby. Yeah, it’s a little too short, but you look phenomenal in it. I can’t be mad about that, can I?”

I schooled my features and leaned closer to him. “I’m just a little worried.”

He frowned. “Why is that?”

“What if I leaned over too far and everyone here would know I’m not wearing anything under this dress?”

He stuttered in his steps, and I bit the inside of my cheeks.

“Fuck. Are you telling me you’re not wearing any underwear?”

I leaned on my tiptoes so I could reach his jaw, kissing it just before I moved to his ear and nibbled on his earlobe. “That’s precisely what I’m saying.”

I left a flabbergasted Jensen standing there, and went to catch up with Jace and Evelyn.

It didn’t take Jensen long to come out of his stupor and when he did, he rushed over to me and stayed close.

I glanced back at him, unable to hide my amusement and pleasure at the look of dark possessiveness in his eyes. He glared at anyone who dared to even look my way, as if he thought everyone here had suddenly developed X-ray vision.

“Are you trying to get someone killed tonight?” he growled in my ear.

I laughed but didn’t say anything. Jace had led us to the VIP section and had taken a seat on one of the couches, Evelyn close by his side.

It was quieter here than out on the dance floor. I liked it.

I took a seat opposite from them, and Jensen moved in closer to me, his thigh touching mine.

I took off my jacket, showing off the tiny black dress, and when I shifted a bit on my seat, the dress rose a little, looking almost indecent.

I worked hard to keep my smile contained.

Jensen scowled at the exposed skin on my thighs, and it looked like he was half tempted to take off his jacket and put it over my lap.

The waitress came over, and still, he didn’t take his eyes off me. I rolled my eyes and patted his chest.

“What do you want to drink?” I asked him when everyone had put in their drink orders and the waitress was waiting for him.

He spared a quick glance at her and pointed at Jace. “I’ll have whatever he’s having,” before turning back to me.
