I nod. “Christina and Franklin Brent.”
The shop clerk claps her hands happily. “Of course,” her smile widens and I stop myself from rolling my eyes, knowing the only reason why she is being nice to me is because of my family’s money. I hate it, yet I love it. Having the Brent name definitely comes with some perks.
“I am Alice and I will be helping you for today.” She snaps her fingers, anda butler appears with a platter of champagne. I grab two, handing one to Rachel.
“Oh my God, pinch me,” she whispers.
I reach over and pinch her bottom.
“Ow!” Rachel shouts before smacking my shoulder.
I chuckle and grab her hand, guiding her over to mannequins dressed in glittering blue garments. “We’re looking for a dress.”
“The occasion?” Alice asks, her gaze sliding over to Rachel.
“Black-tieevent.”
“Ah, yes, so you would need a gown.” We follow her to the other side of the shop, drinking our champagne while I watch Rachel’s wide eyes and agape mouth. Her eyes are still a little swollen and her makeup is still a little messy, but that doesn’t matter.
I feel like I’ve completely and utterly fallen for this woman.
“We have dresses in every size and occasion. Would you like something sleeveless or something more conservative?”
Rachel looks at me. “I have no clue.”
“Sleeveless,” I say to Alice before downing the rest of my champagne. I snap my fingers at the butler hovering near us and he offers me another.
Alice holds out a sleeveless grey dress and I can’t hide my distaste even if I wanted to. Rachel shakes her head. “Grey isn’t really my color. I like black, green,red-”
“Oh! Try the red!” I say, watching Alice quickly look through the dresses hanging on the wall behind her.
She finds several red dresses and I follow her towards the backroom, where several white lounge chairs are resting in front of changing rooms. Alice places the dresses inside while I take my seat, excited to see Rachel in something nice for once.
“I don’t know about this,” says Rachel from the other side of the curtain after several minutes waiting for her to undress.
“Let’s see it. Don’t be shy,” I say with a chuckle.
The curtains open and I watch in awe as Rachel steps forward. The dress is completely sleeveless and shaped in a heart in the front. I have no clue what that neckline is called. I’m sure my mother would know if she was here. It’s simple with a high slit ending a bit higher than necessary.
I want to tear it from her body and make love to her.
I want her wearing that to the party.
“Yes,” I say while Rachel turns around.
Rachel laughs. “Yes? What does that mean?”
I down my drink and rise from the couch, stalking towards Rachel. The butler holds out the platter and I place my glass on it, not bother for another as I reach for Rachel and wrap my arms around her waist. “It means,” I say while nuzzling my nose against hers. “That we’re getting this dress.”
Rachel chuckles. “Oh, really? But I have three others to-”
“You’re getting this dress,” I growl, loving the way Rachel tosses her head back in laughter and smacks my shoulder.
“Fine, I will wear this dress. This is probably the fanciest thing I’ve ever tried on.”
“What about shoes?” Alice pipes up.
“Well, a princess has to have shoes.”
