Yet, I felt warm around them. Just like I did when they were wolves. I always had a connection with them from the first day I brought them home. They slept in my bed, and I had never slept more soundly with them there. Would it be the same in their human form too?
Dax sighed; tension was relieved as soon as he was getting the same attention as his brother. I am still a firm believer that I was dreaming, and all of this would be gone when I woke up. I would start our journey tomorrow and forget this all happened and pray someone spiked my drink. Maybe I even went home with the two sexy men and became a nice Seraphina sandwich. I will just wake up in the morning embarrassed.
As real as this fur and the warmth of this hand on my knees felt, I doubt I was dreaming.
"Um, so I have questions. A lot of questions." Dimitri trotted off to the other room, and after a bit of cracking, he walked back out with jogger pants on. Holy hell, that v-line. I felt my chin being pushed back up into my mouth by a hand and started coughing.
"Sorry, your mouth was hanging open," Dax smirked while I jerked my hand away. I knew I would have to keep an eye on Dax; he looked handsy, and if I remember correctly, he had gotten really close to the cooter the last time he touched me on the dance floor.
We walked to the living room couches; I made them sit on the couch while I sat in my elaborately colored decorative chair I fell in love with. It was the first piece of furniture I bought, and it had beautiful reds and greens that I couldn't pass up. It was my first decision to make a home. The boys sat quietly and were a bit disappointed at our distance.
"Alright, how long have Werewolves been around exactly?"
"A while," Dimitri sighed. "Thousands of years, a little after humans were created. The gods, you may know as the Greek Gods, created us when some lesser gods decided to experiment with humans. Ares was tasked to get rid of the experimented humans that turned into evil creatures such as vampires, witches and other shifters. Just the evil ones, there are many vampires, witches and shifters that are nice.” Dimitri added.
“Ares needed an army.” Dax sucked his teeth. “He picked the strongest humans and, with the help of Selene, helped turn them into Wolves. They could shift back and forth but still, keep all the qualities Wolves had. Strength, speed, agility was able to help Ares defeat the evils of Earth. Ares thanked the Wolves and went on his way. However, time passes, and the wolves became restless."
I sat with my legs crossed, listening to their story. They both were speaking so passionately about it, I wanted to believe them.
"The Goddess Selene intervened. She created soul mates. A Werewolf's soul craved violence to defeat and fight, but if the Wolf was gifted someone to care for, then it would satisfy the Wolf inside them. Each Werewolf created from then on had a soul mate. Selene pairs the souls using her Sphere of Souls to connect them together. Making it easier to find one another."
"But there are two of you," I pointed. "And only one of me," I interrupted. They both smiled at me and then at each other.
"We are identical twins; we share a soul. One sperm, one egg, we split and share the same soul. That means we share the same mate." They smiled at each other.
My mouth dropped hearing this. "Two of you, both of you?" I stuttered as I covered my mouth. Both were concerned as they glanced at me.
"We know it may be hard to believe," Dax spoke, but I shook my head.
"This is all so crazy!" I blurted. "Am I on camera? Is this some kind of joke? First Werewolves, and then I am supposed to be OK with this? Don't I have a say?"
"Of course, you have a say!" Dimitri stood up. His pants hung lower, and I turned my body to talk to the wall. Damn those cut abs. "You can choose to reject us," Dax growled at Dimitri's statement.
Which I found really hot.
"But before you do, will you give us a chance?" Dimitri pulled my arm away from my body and turned me around. "Do you feel this?" His finger trailed up my arm as tiny sparks flew up my skin. Feeling instantly warm, I sighed into it. Dax came up, put his hand in my free one, and intertwined my fingers.
"I know you can't smell us, but we can smell you. Your scent is alluring, strong, and the best scent we could have ever asked for. You smell like ginger snaps and Christmas," Dax chuckled in my ear.
"I can smell you, I think," I muttered. "Dimitri, you smell like an old whisky, Dax; you smell like new leather." We all smiled as now Dimitri laced his fingers in my hands.
"Just give us a chance, Seraphina. You've been through shit; maybe that is why Selene blessed you to us. Because she knows how much we want to spoil, protect and love our mate."
Tears pricked my eyes. I didn't want to cry, not in front of them. They were these hot guys, and I was just me. A woman running from her problems.
"Are you sure I'm your mate? Because I don't think I can handle a joke right now," I whispered.
"We have never been so sure in our entire lives." Dimitri’s poetic words rant through me. I let them make a Seraphina sandwich. They both held me in their arms as I cried. I wasn't sure if I was crying because I was scared, unsure, or because of the massive amount of information; I was just force-fed with my life being drastically changing into something completely fantasy-like.
This was all new, and I was going to take it slow. However, with Dax' hand on my ass, slow might mean something entirely different. My heart really wanted to believe them, because as crazy as this sounds I was drawn to them. I knew something was special about them the day I brought them home.
Chapter Fifteen
Dimitri
Seraphinacriedinourarms until she fell asleep. Really, who could blame her? We told her we were damn Werewolves, and that threw her world upside down. Her mother taught her there were no monsters under the bed, and we just showed her that it was all a lie. Except for this time, the monsters would be in bed...
Once her sobs diminished, she went limp in my arms; we put her to bed. Little sniffs came from her tiny nose, and her body immediately curled around Dax while letting out a heavy sigh.
